Thanksgiving, what is that?... we have 'Sinterklaas' on 5 dec. Dutch people exported Sinterklaas to the US (some 100 years ago) and it became Santa Claus (at christmas time). And we imported Santa Claus back in, so now we have and Sinterklaas on 5 dec and Santa Claus on 25/26 dec, ain't that cool?

Fianchetto!- Thanks! The turkey is cooking at this very moment.

To those not from America or Canada-

Well, Thanksgiving is an American holiday. It's sort of a celebration of the settlement of our ancestors on this continent. They got together with the native americans at one point and they all gave thanks to what they had, blah blah blah.

Long story short, it's the holiday when we are supposed to reflect upon what we are thankful for.

Nope, just the American Thanksgiving.
Afterall, we aren't Canada so there wouldn't be much point in celebrating Canada's Thanksgiving.

Canada doesn't celebrate ours, right?

Of course not silly! It's all in the history.
Actually I think it's kinda nice that American thanksgiving is later than Canadian (I live in western canada), cause it's less comercial that way. We get all the thanksgiving parafanelia when the Americans get it, but we've already had our turkey. But the U.S. is nice and we're friends so we can do this sort of stuff (we give them GOOD beer in return).

A Buttle- You brought this post back up to the top, two days after Thanksgiving, to say THAT?

Faustgfx- Joking or otherwise, this is a holiday greeting, posts hacking apart us "god damn americans" holidays really aren't appropriate in such a thread.
Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in America and Canada, though on different days for different reasons.
Being as it's a holiday pretty much only celebrated by us "god damn Americans" and Canadians, we don't expect you others to know what it is. So don't screw up a good natured holiday post with posts like that.

Now, please end it. Thanksgiving has passed and there's no point in keeping the thread going any longer.
