What exact kind of fretwork are you looking for? There are so many examples to choose from. Why just the other day I was doing some cleaning and said to myself "Boy! Where did all of this fretwork come from? I really ought to just throw the whole bunch out". So I did. Bad timeing eh?

Heh. Just kidding, I'D NEVER THROW OUT MY FRETWORK!!!! What am I crazy?!?!

Ok seriously. I assume you are refering to that particular style of wood working, which is confusing because that means the texture you are looking for will be (you guessed it) WOOD! As for meshes, I think that fretwork actually sort of lends itself to max work.

Take a look at this site: http://www.woodworkers.com.au/

For some examples. I'd imagine a lot of it be reproduced with a simple 2d drawing that you just the extrude to the desired shape.

Is this what you mean? Hope it helps.

How big is this bolt Bane? If it's going to be one of a thousand bolts then I would use a texture. If it's going to be a big bolt on display then I'd use a mesh otherwise it'll look terrible. Could you give a little more detail?

It's gonna be a huge compex bolt type thingy, i need a very thin carving, not rough. Just like on the upper picture. Maybe texture will do, but where to get it?

Thanks
