I kind of made it easy for myself on the background, but anyways, what do you, folks, think about it ?

his hair is real well done.. the pic looks pretty unfinished though ( yeah I know you said 90% done).. but it's real hard to get a sense of depth or angle on this one, the background and his cape are pretty muttled. cool start though.

usually you could wait more than 20 minutes to complain about lack of replies
1: try the .. oh no i can't think of the word for it.. the NOT blurry brushes.... GRRR i cant remember it. Anyway I'd advise that you stop using the blurry brushes, if you see what I mean... The picture looks undefined, and blurry
2: The background looks kinda like a hazy swamp maybe? but there are no trees, there is no ground, etc. Basically it looks like random splotches of color.. Maybe thats what you want but its a bit disconcerting
3: Just making the monster (if that is a monster i see there) black doesn't seem to work. You notice that there is a black spot on the left side of the picture? So how do we know that that isn't another monster? You've got to show that its not just another hole in the fog, or whatever it is...
4: shading's a little weird on the arms, they look .. 2d, if you know what I mean. they don't seem to stick out of the picture.. though it's a good start.
5: Are you doing this intentionally.. it looks like he has something like a neverending cloak that keeps on going and going into the foreground. Does it ever end? its a bit vague..
Nice hair, nice pose, pretty good anatomy. I like the concept but the drawing/shading needs some work.
Keep it up.
(Bytheway I'm just trying to help, not trying to sound too harsh)

Since I'm feeling down about my number of posts, I'll take a shot at it.
Please regard the fact that I have no credability, experience, etc. to help you with, so I'll take that busdriver lean back and judge every damn thing type mode.
Now, on the picture. Personally, I like the blurrying into the background, gives it something of an acid trip look (pardon the phrase). Like hes mudding through dark water. Secondly, if thats a creature, my busdriver skillz can do better; while it may be the best creature ever seen on earth, it it the same damn color as the background. Once again, I like the look of the painting, but its good to try and do other types of art.
Anyway, do me a favor and forget all the bullshit I just said

Thanks a lot for your critics, everybody,
I know it looks crapy right now, but there is one thing about it - it was done SOLELY with CRAPY BALL MOUSE !!! So most of the time I had to struggle with skipping ball-sensors :-(((( Thanks, everybody!
P.S. Paqmann, actually I expected something harsher, thanks for your effort to help me !!! |
