Okay. I made this one using a reference photo and it's my third attempt at that technique.
I really think I'm recognising the shapes better and better, and not just copying what I see on the screen (like I practically did with the two earlier pictures). It's million
miles far from perfect, though. And what surprised me was how little time I spent with this.
Comment if you please.

wow, very good job. i like the monotone too, it fits the setting. im stretching to critique, but i would say the only thing to do would be to add more detail on the figures and the bullet chain.
keep up the good work.

Very nice! I'm just wondering if the fire coming out the mach gun should be a lot brighter?

Very nice...veeery!
But if the helmet is the same type of helmet I've seen before, it's too flat on the top or something, but I can't say anything if I haven't seen the photo... |

Gecko: I'm not sure about the fire.
Binke: In the original the helmet really is quite huge.
But thanks everyone.

I must agree with the gun fire..make it ALOT brighter, in the center.
Also..I know those helmetes are HUGE..but this one looks a bit flat on the top there.
Also, I am missing a bit of depth..right now it looks a bit like the choper is standing on the ground with no legs...how about you go over the background and blurr it a bit..ad some shapes that would give us a sence of scale...phone lines..houses...trucks/tanks. Also, dont just give it a unifrom blur..make those things furthest away blurrier..and the closer you get..the sharper it gets...how about motion blur.
other then that..keep it up!!

I'm gonna add to the gunfire thing, let's see some reflection of it in his visor. and more bullet shells flailing about |

Actually, I don't think 5.56 mm miniguns like that one release their spent casings willy nilly. The brass would eject with such rapidity (70 rounds per second) and force, that special body armor would be required for the operator.
You'd also make a helluva mess inside the chopper.
It looks cool in movies, but if he's after accurate documentary, then I'd advise against Punisher-style brass swarms.

Bg; Solid pic...Here's some info on the G.E. 5.56mm NATO gatling machine gun:
Cyclic rate: 6000 rounds per minute
Footpounds of energy from each round: 2200
Kickback thrust while firing: 11,000lbs
Some notes about how the exhaust pattern goes, if you want to make it look very authentic; Because the barrels rotate so quickly, even though the round has already left the barrel, the barrel rotates and hot gasses are still being expelled. This causes a "halo" effect around all barrels onf the gun as it's firing, but with a brighter, singular and very "pointy" muzzle flash coming from the top barrel... If you have "Predator" on video, watch that for a good idea of what the muzzle flash looks like...They have some good footage of it in there.
