hey!

Here are two recent drawings/paintings. The first one is my first real venture into Painter. Actually I found out how impressive this program really is and underneath that confusing UI I found a very likeable performance. It wasn't painted in very high res, since it was just a test...yeah..enough rambling...The second one was for the october drawclub. Done in Photoshop.

I like the last one best, really like the style of it.

No. I didn't meet Chester when he was in Copenhagen. I used to work at Deadline (also a part of Vision Park) but I went freelance this may. I'm still in touch with the guys at Deadline (kicking their butts in couterstrike now and then) and one of them told me that you guys are now also a part of Vision Park. Don't know if its confidential..if it is I'll edit this at once...

thanks...Yeah, I like the last one best as well. The face was just a test in working in Painter...

nice paintings boomer. I too like the last one best, cool one !. I like the lightning of the face, but the face, or maybe just the eyes look a bit strange.

The visionpark news is official. Innerloop is now Vision Park, but we still use the Innerloop name, so really doesn't have any effect on us.

Did you go to that 3d conference ?

Nice to see you taking a stab at Painter...
Looking forward to seeing something more refined when you get used to it.

How's it running on your PC?
I've heard guys with 800MHz Athlons,
128Mb RAM, complain that it's impossible to work above 1000x1000 because of slowdowns!!
I have a dual PIII 500MHz with 256Mb RAM, and it's running very smoothly, even with quite large brushes! And I don't think that Painter utilizes the extra processor.
My 450MHz G3 Mac at work, with 448Mb RAM, Sucks BIGTIME compared with my PIII, it's about half as responsive!

I haven't had time to complete my portrait,
but it's coming along (slowly). It's hard to
get something done when you only have time to work for 1/2 an hour at a time.
And it doesn't seem like I'll have any spare time before the end of the week!
I'm beginning to get frustrated.... blaaargh!

(Edit):
(Pentium III optimization only for Windows 98/Windows NT4 SP5)
I found the above on the Corel website, concerning Painter6... this could be my source of speed

I knew it would pay off to buy PIII's with streaming SIMD instructions, instead of crappy Athlons... hehe. (I'm on NT4, SP5)

nope.. Didn't go to the 3dfestival. I couldn't afford the around DKR 2.000,00 that the seminars would cost me. :/ I did go last year, and from what I hear around I really didn't miss much...

Yeah, the face looks a bit wierd. I still have to get used to how the brushes work and that they aren't all that precise... But I like more and more by the minut...

Boom, these are great. Thanks! Now... where did I put that signature file of mine... hehehe.

But seriously, that face is very haunting... very spooky, very exotic. What was the best part of using Painter while drawing that one?
I see some brushstrokes from what looks like a wide bristle brush... hehe.

That Hellboy image is damn cool too.

poxen - yep, Hellboy is the man! or the devil, if you will....

No Painter isn't better than Photoshop...But Photoshop isn't better than Painter. Both programs have their strong points and their weaknesses. Many have difficulties getting into Painter (including myself). But persistense pay off (as usual), just look at the work of Vebjorn or Saffron and others.

Sergenth - thanks. The best part was that it actually almost felt like the real thing. Every stroke reacts to whats beneath and blending is so much easier...
