Hiro and YT. I can't remember if YT is a blonde or not - I seem to remember that she is. Also, I gave Hiro dreads, although I'm again not sure if he had them in the book. Pretty bad memory, especially considering this is my favorite book.

nice drawing francis!! Nice shading too, reminds of the capcom style. I think the guy looks really good. The girl looks a bit weird. I don't know if it's your intention, but the arms are very long and big. Also, her mouth, don't know if it's the lighter red color inside or that the lower part of the mouth folows the chin perfectly, but for some reason it is a bit hard to see that it's a open mouth.

Wooahh! She's got a monkey's arms! And her shoes suck compared to his kickass boots. Apart from that it's cool, nice colors, lines, composition, expression, style. He looks like havin noticed her shoes, too, hehe

Nice Francis! I have to agree with Joachim on the mouth. It may have to do with the tongue just being flat. Her feet seem kinda big for those ankles also.

pertty cool. i like the expression on the guys face. the colourings pretty good too. its just those yellow shoes on the chick that really get to me. they look rather puffy and a bit to big.

Not sure what to do about the mouth - I didn't realize it was that difficult to read. Her arm WAS freakin long - funny what you don't see the first time. Uh, well I hope it's better...

What can I say? Cool pic Francis.
I'm not familiar with the book but I like the pose for YT and the goofy/puzzled look on Hiro's face. Do you draw any inspiration from other artists or is your style something that's developed on it's own?

That book is great, if you haven't read
Neal Stephensons newest (Cryptonomicon) you
should. It is like 1000 pages and starts off
a little slow, but I can't put it down now.

Looks better Francis. Two things though. For the mouth you could probably put a little divet in the center of her tongue. Tongues usually are not just flat across. Also, look at how her left shoe curves into her ankle... ouch.

Guess I'm going to the book store to see if I can find a copy of Snow Crash locally.

i know im just a lowly newbie and its not my place to crit the pro's
but i hate those yellow shoes with a vengeance. that guy's boots are so cool, and then she's got... some sort of oval with a flat bottom on her left foot...

Aha! I figured out why what's-her-name is a little out of proportion...

When looking at YT from the waist up.. the arms don't seem incorrect. But when you scroll down, you can use your imagination to lay her arms against her side and see that the knuckles touch her knees, which isn't normal for humans I've encountered in Jersey at least :P

But since Toy Story 2 is still fresh in my mind from last night... I imprinted the image of Barbie over YT's figure and realized she'd be all fixed up if her abdomen and legs were longer! Then... her knuckles would line up with the base of the crotch and everything would be hunkey dorey. Heck.. she'd look like Sailor Moon as well as Barbie then (with those impossibly long legs). It's a style.

So that's what I believe happened Francis... you watched Toy Story 2 halfway through. It's a theory :P

Now aside from all the crits, I dig the pic. Great emabarassment expression on Hiro and the "HEeeeeyy!" expression on YT and damn, I need to read this Snowcrash book!!

The proportions are wierd. Huge shoulders, small hips/waist, big head (which goes with the manga style I suppose),Monkey arms (which are pretty chunky when compaired to her legs). feet are rather cartoonish compaired to the other drawing in the pic.

The guy looks kewl tho

I have no idea what Snow Crash is so I might be missing a few points here.

This reminds me a lot of Shirow for some reason, especialy the guy.
