This is "YT" from Neal Stephenson's book Snow Crash (well, my interpretation at least). One of my favorite books - I can't recommend it enough. I was trying to do a greyscale value study, with the intent of adding color afterwards. However, I got a little fed up this drawing. The line art is actually a month or two old - just got around to working on it yesterday.

By the way, thanks for all the Boba Fett reference, guys!

The shading looks nice. But you may want to double check the anatomy. Her head seems too large for that body. The legs are too "thick" for her lack of buttox, and she has some big feet for a girl.

Very nice.

I'd love to see your interpretations of Hiro Protagonist and Vitaly Chernobyl.

Damn Snowcrash was a good book.

P.S I loved that last Bobba Fett drawing of yours . . . it's my personal favourite.

great drawing!

its a value study so my critique may be inappropriate but I agree with chapel on the head and maybe the legs - maybe the left arm is a bit low compared to the other one too.

sorry, hope you don't mind my babble.

looks pretty tight, just a few things,

her head seems huge compaired to her body(but the shading is reall good on it heh)

her left arm doesnt look like its connected to the shoulder(but that might be the padding making that illusion, i think the padding on it should be rotated like her arm is mabye, so its not so stiff)

then... i can see you got tired on this pic cuz when u get to her legs its pretty mess compared to her face heh

good work tho ;p

Very nice, Francis!
I agree with the head being too big.

Nice work Francis! Comments about the head I agree with, and her left shoulder/upper_arm methinks is off. Man she has huge calves! =) Great stuff!

umm... correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the bindings go on the other side of the board??? Nice work...

Not to mention that the board has things like concussion charges and such (it's so over the top it's hilarious)
I didn't think her head was so off, but the arm is odd certainly.
Oh well; great job none the less (I thought you were they guy who said he sucked at doing people? geez, one day I'll suck this much.)
I think you should go into ludicrous detail (assuming you want to); do a different angle with all her pass cards and weapons and such strapped all over her (that outfit was like friggin' Batman designed it)

Didn't someone do a sketch of Hiro's car around here once? I seem to remember something of the sort

OK, survey says I hosed the head and the left arm. Here's what I was trying to convey with this character type - short-ish (like 5'2" or so) and muscular, like a gymnast. The character in the book spends a lot of time doing some pretty radical stuff on this "smart board" (incidentally, Qory, yeah usually you do want bindings on the other side - these are supposed to be "smart wheels," which are basically a whole bunch of tiny spokes that extend so that the board can adapt to any type of surface), usually harpooned onto a fast moving vehicle, like a pizza delivery truck. Not trying to justify bad drawing, but I did have certain things in mind. One thing I probably should have done is to draw other objects or characters which would help indicate her height.

At any rate, thanks for the analysis - this one apparently is not 100% successful (not that my other stuff is, of course!).

Francis: Maybe you if you just made her left buttox a little more curvy it would look ok. Her right one is curvy and her left cheek is flat. I know you are going for a gymnast style body and well.. every female gymnast I've met has a nice kaboos.

Yay..I'd like to see your interp. of Raven and Neuromancer's Molly [gotta love the lenses]..

My main complaint is the fact she doesnt look like she's 15 in the face...but I dont really think that counts since it's your interp.
