Just the odd hires 3d model I made. It will be used for Valhall snowboards 2001/2 season.
Just showing it here, even if it`s 3d. Don`t get mad;-)
Also doen some updates to my site. The version of the skull on my site has Vebsart written aswell.

Wow, that's really nice, Veb. How did you do those little tufts of hair on the top? Are those just a texture, or did you use some sort of fur plugin?
My only crit would be that the form is a little bit busy right near the snout of the skull... There's a lot going on with the details in the nose and the shapes around it, but there isn't any really strong contrast between the two objects, so it's a little bit harder to make out the form. (Compared to your usual 2D work, that is. It still blows away anything I've done, in 2D OR 3D. ) In any case, I think either making a greater contrast between the two objects would help, or adding a bit of shadow, or something... I guess neither of those are really practical with the lighting you've set up, and I know what a pain it would be to change a mesh at this stage, so I'll stop rambling now. Love this picture. |

Thanks for the comments.
Fur... I was supposed to use shag fur/hair, but it just won`t run under win2000 98 so. I HATE MAX PLUGINS. Sure the programs cheaper than the other lot out there, but man..getting all those third party plugins to work...including the hassles with a gazillion licenses. But it rocks for making realtime gfx and thats generally what I do anyway.
We tossed out NT at work for all my teams artist so we could play the game we`re working on, and get our geforce2 cards to accelerate 3dsmax.
End of rant...
So..I had to paint the fur in painter..and add an opacity map.
Oh..I took a break from the board while I modelled the skull..took a LOOOOONG time. Next up..a Buffy model. And I want it to be super realistic...so I`ll be quiet for a few months/years ..hehe. Kidding.

strange. i use shag:hair and it works fine under 2000.. tho, i did have to get a new one of those digimation server things from their site which would enable the plugin to work in 2k. |
