Yeah, I've seen that loki, he, Eric Chauvin, is a legend in the field, a very talented painter indeed. Although I think it is too bad he, or his studio, incorporates too much 3d in their matte work.
Do you remember the backdrop in the end of the movie "HOOK", that was a traditional painting partly painted by Eric
[i forgot, love your work Peter]

Hey Monkey ... Mon ... key ... Mon ... KEY!
Well, just waiting to get some renderings from someone else so I got a minute to show that I'm still alive.
I'm freakin busy ... that's also the reason why I can't get to my loudly announced bigmouthed mentorship-thingy. Really sorry about that.
But I picked up my first freelance job for a movie, so I gotta keep moving, that I finish everything in time ...
Oh, no I found that site looking for "digital matte painting" ...
See ya soon

Grunger: Huh?
Don't think I've ever worked on the same movie than Craig - except the FinalFantasy movie - but I left long before they hired Craig to clean up the mess I made

Peter - No, I meant for Eric Chauvin, the guy you posted this thread for. He worked on Bicentennial Man, Forrest Gump and Contact (maybe others which I am not aware of), which are two movie Craig also worked on. |

That Eric Chauvin guy has done some really nice stuff but unfortunately he hasn't updated his web site in about 2 years. (or at least it seems that long) And I would dearly love to see the animated version of that front page image (it says on the Dinotopia page that it's an animation).
Another great matte artist (and another Eric) is Eric Hanson;

Sumaleth: I've worked with Eric at Digital Domain. He's great - but he does most of his stuff in 3D ... with skillfully applieed paintings though ... |
