Here's something I farted with after hours over the last few days. Just to clarify, this is a character from a comic book of the same name from Chris' studio Liquid! graphics. I took some liberties with the character design, mainly because I'm not 100% familiar with it.

In case anyone is interested, I also have a couple of different versions for download - a higher res version and the line art version, just because there are a number of aspiring colorists here who might find this useful.

giant resolution (1600, 145K):
http://www.teamgt.com/forum/protomecha1600.jpg
line art only (2100, 219K):
http://www.teamgt.com/forum/protomecha_line.jpg

...and the post version, with a 1:1 detail:
(Why so many versions? Um, I dunno...)

Nice work Francis,

Really like the pose and shading on this one. The only thing that bothers me is that the transparent "wings" looks way to flat. I know its anime style, but it doesnt really match with the shading on the rest of the pic. Maybe Im wrong, Im not exactly an anime expert.

Love it anyways, [CSM]

Nice work Francis. This should go in that other thread Dhabih started that we aren't supposed to talk about. Anyway, I'm not too big on the wings either. The main part of the wings seem a little big. They are supposed to retract to where they are hardly noticable. But that is just me being nit-picky (is that a word?) I definetly think you should add more transparent blades to the wings. Would make more since for them being so big. Check out http://www.protomecha.com/ for references if you didn't already know.

that looks really nice francis. Love the proportions and the tech-design.
the pose is very nice too, though that finger pointing is a bit of a clich, esp. since almost 90% of frazettas girls do that. But, who cares about that kind of stuff

Hey Fransico, Nice work. You've really been pounding things out lately. I think everyone else has really nailed it in their comments already. It was a great idea to post the line art as well.......

I've been staring at this thread for 15 mins now
Kick ass picture Francis. Very nice gluteus maximus. Great dynamic pose. The image went to my collection.

The feet look a lil bit too small, i mean the bottom of her foot is just as long as her palm of the hand. Maybe my feet are too big, what do I know.

Hey Francis, great picture, a metal angel. Nice pose, simple yet dramatic. How long does it take you from the drawing stage to the final coloured piece to complete?

hi francis
awesome pic

say did you draw this pic
or did you ''just'' colored it?

your post says (so I thought) you colored it
but the other posts says something differen't
hhmmmm I'm confused

maybe I should take more attention at english lessions

well doesn't matter anyway
you did a great job in both cases

Thanks for all the lovely comments!

I admit to not knowing a lot about the character, so that's probably where the wing thing comes from. And I did get a bit lazy in trying to figure out how to render the transparent wings.

RobM, I dunno that I'm that awesome - I still struggle with just about everything. You can read my bio if you want the whole story.

Joachim, yup I agree - but couldn't come up with anything more interesting.

nori you always have the weirdest comments. I love it.

Axl, I think I have a total of maybe 4-6 hours in this.

silber - including doing the line drawing, yes.

Lukias - tell me what you don't like about it?

Also I have to thank Fred for some anatomy and composition help.

I'll have a new Boba Fett drawing to show soon. I hope someone does their own color version of the protomecha line art I posted - I would really like to see that!

Francis: I'm going to print it out and ink it first and then I'll attempt to color it. Course I have tons of other things I want to do, but this pic will probably get bumped to the top.
