I'm wanting to get a drawing pad for my system, but I don't really know which one. I don't want to spend too much...I'm thinking about getting a 4x5 one to start out. I noticed that Wacom has the Graphire and the Intuos. Would the Graphire be good enough for a beginner, or should I spend the extra money for the Intuos? Any recommendations would be nice.

I just got a graphire and seems to work just fine. I really haven't looked into any of the other ones, but the graphire seems to do the trick for me.

Before I got this Intuos A5, I used my friends Graphire A6, and have to say that atleast with that little experience I didn't notice much difference (other than the size). I guess if I'd go and try a graphire today, I'd notice they're not quite the same. If you're really trying to learn the ropes here, I suggest going for Graphire, besides it's way cheaper (like $95?) - if money is not an object, buy an Intuos A4 - you don't have to buy a new one, like, ever.

Thanks for the help guys...I'm glad to hear that you like the Graphire, since it is cheaper

I was concerned, since the specs for the Intuos were twice what the Graphire had, twice the resolution, twice the levels of pressure, but I'm glad I can take the cheap way out.
