Hello, thought I'd share these pictures I made today. Tell me what u think..
I started by painting this guy, but I needed some sort of background. This is the finished (?) pic:
And this is the original guy I made:

ahh..neat background..although I think you should stay away from the filter->brushstrokes option.
I dunno about the guy, looks a little too messy.

Thank you very much for your comments!
I worked a little more on the pic, just trying some different stuff.
I hesitated to put a car into the pic, mainly because I've always failed to draw any believable cars in the past.
I'll have a shot at removing the guy when I get more time.
My worry now is that there might be too much going on in the pic..?
Anyways..
Oh, and the crosshatch filter was a leftover from an earlier bg that I didn't get anywhere with, so I just put a filter over the whole thing.. > forgot to remove it afterwards..

Looks great! I really like cyberpunk stuff like this.
The lighting and colours are really nice, plus the rain looks great!

Looks so nice man. Things to gripe...the guy of corse, but im not as good as u.
I'd love to see a hot pink...well maybe not pink, but a neon sign that's all burnt out and the lit words say something funny or cool |

Great background, particularly the animated rain. My favorite part would be where the distant blue light blends into deep reds. Good touch!
I agree about the cross hatching-- I think it would look fine for a traditional drawing, but here it gives a Photoshop-Filter look.
More importantly though, the large figure isn't doing it for me. Just an opinion of course, but I think erasing him, and have instead two shadowed figures (perhaps a couple arm in arm) emerging from the distance would work better. They can be placed slightly off centered where the blue light turns into violet, with silouhette of umbrellas, and long wet coats.
I feel it would add mystery, but it could change the narrative direction you're conveying.
Hope this helps some, just friendly opinion naturally

MMMhhh
I love the rains, you know, rain is my favorite.
I do'nt feel very good when peep yellout "the weather is beautiful!!" when the sun hangs in the sky. I love rainy days and windy days alot more than sunny days.
good job on the bg, man |

I would work the guy a little more. But if you do anything else make that car taking off or something! like they do in BR.

Thank u for the comments!
Well.. Man out, woman in. Please tell me if it got any better.. ?!
Is there enough contrast in the picture? I think I have my monitor set a little too dark sometimes.
Here's a link to a version that has more contrast:

Hmm..I like it more. Only one suggestion. Loose the Jacket. Maybe giver her like a leather jacket that juuuuust comes to her waist and some skintight leather pants.! [img]http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/icons/icon13.gif[/img:15e93e5d6c]
That would be cool!
Ok that all.

Brillant work !! Very good colors and mood !
Here's a nitpick - there's a little error in the scale of this picture, the figure really looks big with respect to the car ... but since no one noticed, it can't be that significant.

Hey Metalfan:
Personally, I don't see much of a difference with the girl or guy... the shady dark silhouette character is what matters.
Ideas or thoughts I would like to push in your direction are the following:
Reflections. As the ground is wet from rain, reflections should be taken into account, like the cars headlights, the red light from the store where the car is. Reflections are a pretty weird thing... reflections in glass or water will reflect only what is brighter in value than the color/value under the water or behind the glass.
The highlights on the character in front of us are too bright in my oppinion, and seems wrong as there doesn't seem to be any light causing such specular highlights/reflections.
Overall, if you want to make it more realistic, try to have less contrast as a general, be more subtle in your values differences. Of course, that all depends on what your objectives are.
cheers,
frost. |

Great background, I love the light and the overall feeling of the picture.
Its great how you blended the light with the rain.
But give the figure in the forground a better construction or remove the figure.
