I don't know about anyone else, but I'm damn sick of getting requests for 'free' work over the net. What the hell is this all about? Do people really think that because we are artists we don't need to be compensated for our time??? We need food, shelter, clothing, just like anyone else, and the tools we use for our trade can be damn expensive to keep and maintain. How many people go to a mechanic they have never met before and ask if they can get their car fixed for free? Or wonder up to a house painter and see if he'd mind doing their house for nothing? I'm sorry if this is turning into a rant, but I've just had it up to here with this sort of stuff.

Why do people think they can take advantage of the fact that we love what we do? I guess they think that if they ask enough people, they'll eventually find someone bored or naive enough to give them what they want. And the internet is a great way to do it, right? Impersonal, remote, you can send mass requests and not worry about offending people (unless of course you run into an abrasive a_hole like me who's finally received one freebie request from a complete stranger too many. )

Please, everyone, I beg of you, don't take this sort of work. If you can see some *real* advantage in it for yourself (like experience, exposure or helping out a friend), then fair enough - but otherwise you are not only cheating yourself, but perpetuating this trend, which in the end cheats all artists, as people come to expect that they *can* get their work for free.

Sorry for taking up your time with this, and I don't mean to pick on you in particular Refa. It's just something I think needs to be said - and way more often.

Most of the people seem to be busy enough to make their job for free. It seems also like most of the people here aren't really keen on making job for free even if they have enough free time As for me I even have no time to design my new homepage for the last 2 years...
