Yestoday Daz199 mentioned using white-out for highlights. People got really upset over this. Like i said before, it's okay to use whatever media you want, as long as the final result looks good. I personally use gouache....you get more control w/ a brush. Again, there's nothing wrong w/ using white-out...it's great for fast production style sketches....

Here are some research pics i drew while in school for an entertainment design class (so these are old). Look at all the white highlights - gouache. Everything else is pen and marker.

Superb! Dang, no one uses that word..Anyway, I really like the effect here. People get upset over whiteout? What do they say about rotting cow heads, or dung on the virgin Mary, or bee's wax? Huh..Nice frogs either way.

Hey cool, frogs are too cute! Lovely rendering, some of them have a really effective translucent feel to their skin, I like it a lot... With the addition of these, my "I-love-feng" folder is again growing in size - how does it feel to have an obsessive fan? (spooge knows something about that too, I suspect...)

Hey Francis. Well, the guoache thing can be used for all highlights, the subject matter really shouldn't matter. It's good for creating soft edges on buildings, and making "lights" on huge buildings or spaceships. I have more samples at home...but here are some weak examples:

thanx everyone else for their comments. I'll try to upload more stuff this afternoon..=)

Feng, could you recommend any books on Indusrial or Product design, or anything else helpful to getting better at it?

Nice work Vortx!

I really like the building concepts you did.
The last one with the with the huge structure in the rock has such a massive scale to it. Awesome.

Is that Prismacolor markers with colored paper and ink on top?

Keep em coming!

Now, those are best frogs pics I've seen to date! (And I live in a place where everyone does frogs, and I thought I was all 'frogged out'). But I love yours. Very sweet, clean style.

Feng those are great! Do you have any images using this technique of hard edged stuff, like buildings or non-organiz spaceships? I'd be curious to see how that works with other kinds of forms.

Your stuff is cool.

Heh..I agree, you better watch out posting stuff like this Feng. you'll start getting some serious adoration. I think frogs are soooooo cute. Way too much for their own good . I remember making up comic books about "Frog riders" Only I couldn't draw what I wanted. You've flipped a switch here I might give it another go.
Those are very very good. As saffron said, you've really captured the feel of the translucent skin. Post more stuff like this. Seeing these has made me think very highly of you. They feel like frogs. I can see them jumping out of the page for christ's sake.
I recently went on a "Feng-pic-hunting-mission". Went and had a look at the game you're working on. But I'm all downloaded out. Gimme more

*Sorry* its the frogs, they get me all jumpy.

What do you use to get yur referance images? 1/2 the time I can never find anything that I can use as a referance... and with such variety.

If you could post some urls or let us know I am sure others apart from myself would really apreciate it.

i love the way the frogs look so slimy and moist! they look like they'd jump off the page, and if u tried to catch one it'd slip out of ur hand like soap.
