ok you enticed me. i had sworn of posting for the next 3 min so that i could get some work done but it was such a nice image i couldn't resist . as with all or your stuff i think you crated an excellent pose, with a lot of action, character and the like. my only little problem is that the shading makes him look like he was run threw an emboss filter... check our the abs in particular. i'm pretty sure it has to do with the dark lines you've drawn to separate the highlights form the shadows. minus the minor shading problem this image is sweet. i love perspective on his legs and the design of the head gear is really cool. it would be sweet if someday you could write something up on how to create dynamic poses...

hope you don't mind the feedback.

BEUTIFUL! I agree with phreaknasty about the shading. I really like that helmet. The pose is cool, but the silowet (spelling?) could be a little better where the gun goes behind the leg. Maybe if you brought the gun out a little it would read better. Overall: very cool.

Once again, nice work Bizarde. Like Micke said, your drawings look very professional. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

Hey, since you got your account working, why don't you post up those pics you sent me a few weeks ago. They are very cool...

first i gotta say i like this and all of your drawings ive seen so far, and i agree with what everyone has complemented you on so far. only things i took notice of was the stance of his left leg, although it doesnt look bad at all, the direction it goes from the upper part of the leg is straight down but from the knee joint to the foot it looks like he is able to rotate his knee in x, y, and z. the other thing that caught my attention is his left hand... i tried comparing his left hand to his right and to me they dont anatomically look the same. also i gotta say the head of the character is so badass. hope im helpfull

I like it except i think the gun should be brought up over his leg to the foreground. Otherwise his gun should be tilted at an angle which it is not.

*Acting as his art teacher* "All I see is grey! Theres 2 or 4 really dark spots... wheres the rest of them! Its flat!"

With that out of my head, I love the character. Definately throw more black on there. Your light sources(Which apears to be really bright.) looks like it's coming from "his" right side, so be sure his left side has lots of dark tones on it. Don't be affraid of the dark side! YOu have the shaded spots there, just make them darker/richer, is all that I would suggest.

Its funny how you can tell people what could be added to make it look better. Turn around and do your own drawing and you forgot your own tips.

(Speeling sucks...)

biz - sorry i didn't explain it well before. i'll try to be more concise this time round. basically some of the shading seems a bit abrupt. like jhof said you basically have only three colors; black, white, and a gray. the lack of transition colors (more gays) causes some of the muscles to look like they have a flat surface. the dark black lines add to this effect. i've tried to create two drawing to demonstrate what i'm talking about. mind you may drawing skills aren't up to your level so bare with me...

the abs you drew look like this

if you used more shades of gray and smoothed out the transition you'd end up with a more rounded look

i messed around with your image and colored a bit, maybe it will help explain what i'm trying to get at.

anyways hope this helps. your forms are beautiful. please keep on posting. and as i said before, if you ever get the time to makeup a tutorial describing how to create such great poses we'd all be in your debt (if you ever decide to create a tutorial, i'd gladly format it, host it, put it in html, or whatever else i could do to help). great image. i wish i could have about 1/2 your skill... oh well...

I'm with the Phreak on this one. Sorta looks like you ran an emboss filter over the entire thing.

And by the way, Bay Area represent! Peninsula!

Yeah! I love your work.

For all those who are for more shades of grey I'd have to dissagree. I would imagine that Bizarde would have done this on purpose (correct if wrong). It's a very graphic style that would work if inked in B+W very well and holds it's own in it's current state as well.
IMHO there is a lot of skill involved in using only a few shades. it forces you to make decisions and simplify. it often makes it easier to read and shows a lot of skill.
There is no fudging with grey everywhere. you have to make the right choice and do so agresivly. It forces you to know your subject. flaws are more easily covered up with a splotch of nothing shading. where as a mistake in pure B+W will stand out.

I like this style and I like this pic Bizarde...U Rok

Bizarde and Rinaldo - i'll defer to your better judgements since you both are way beyond my skill level and both seem to have experience with pen and ink. when i first looked at the image the shading stood out. but after rinaldo's message i see how this would indeed convert well to ink. lovely anyway you go. the reason i spent so much time combing over this image is that i really dig it.

hope it doesn't seem like i was nit-picking . i guess the danger of critiquing art by artist with more skill then you is that you risk getting in over your head. i should probably spend more time creating the critiquing .

nice drawing bizarde, very nice.

I only have one comment. When I first looked at the pic I had a little hard time figuring out how he was holding the gun. I would probably put the gun in front of his right leg instead of behind. Also the gun makes some unwanted bad tangents with the boot...makes sense?

anyway, very cool style and drawing.

Very nice piece! Worry about the BG? Think of where he/it is right now. Standing on a hill, pointing towards the deserted enemy camp....or something...

I like this one a lot. Personally I wouldn't
change the shading on the body, it gives it
more of an alien feel like a different
texture than skin. You gonna color it?

Could you post a higher resolution version
or a link to one?
