Very nice, Oscar! Quite an extensive site, for sure. I don't think one needs to cancel out the other though

Images are okay in the image thread now, just been fixing here and there...

Please let me know if there are any problems with anything...

Thanks

Hey there Oscar, GFXneighbour

Yep. /me is a GFX'er too. http://serenity.gfxartist.net baby.

I wouldnt want to compare this to the GFXgallery though. This is more of a showcase & study place, while the GFXthing is more of a contest...

Oh well. They both rock

Whoawhoawhoa... I didn't create gfxartist.net! Those guys just created the archive thingie we've been talking about, and they seem to be doing a really good job.

The Digital Artist's Resource and GFXartist.com may do some co-ops soon. Keep an eye out.

[Shizo]... the times you listed for each image - were those *24 hours a day*, each day - or *a few hours each day*? I counted the approximate *total* time for each image - even if it spanned more than 1 day. Perhaps I'm being to anal about the whole thing? Anyone? Beuller?

Post here if you experience any problems with anything (threads or links)!

I'm really glad there's excitement about a Sijun gallery! I think we'll all get closer as we do more things like this.

I won't take credit for any ideas - only the work to make the beginning which allows us to begin...

The rest is up to all of us!!!

And, as one of my favorite heroines once said...

"LET'S ROOOOOCK!!!!"

This is great!
I think it would be great to be able to post images inside this forum.
I do know that there are many great galleries out there, but "Gallery 2000" is in here!!!
In my opinion, an inside gallery which is dedicated to the member of this forum is by far the best.

Have you reserved your spot in the gallery yet?
go go go go go go....

Well, there seemed to be excitement, anyway! Something tells me there's a lot more people with really cool artwork than are posting in the Gallery...

If you're new to this forum - grab your spot in the IMAGE Thread! Click here to get there.

There are many Threads to sift through to try and see everyone's artwork. Put your favorite pieces in one place like the Gallery, and it's easier for everyone to view - and to view LOTS of art!

More entries baby!

And to those who grabbed spots - More graphics already! I see about 15% of the people who posted including actual images! Why not put 'em there so we can enjoy 'em? And when you do, post here so we'll know.

Kudos to Spitfire, [Shizo], kos.mandis, Pixelator, Oscar Alexander, Jonno, klaivu and neutral? for puttin' images up! Love the pics - Keep 'em comin'!

Some concerns:

Spitfire - Had to replace [] with () so you could see 'em here... Is there a (url=link address) tag before your (img) tag, and a (/url) after the (/img) tag? It doesn't link right now...

CeRbErO - Talk with xDarythx or find someplace to host your images for free? Geocities gives 15 Mb free...

Jonno - Your 'Quixley Brown' pic is very cute :P Have a bigger original?

fantastic idea kurisu

as long as we keep one of the threads near the top of the board we should have a great ongoing gallery. It will be especially good for people like me who are only starting up - to see the quality of the work grow over time will be a truly worthwhile experince.

so back atcha kurisu! kudos to YOU for getting this thing off the ground and showing some real enthusiasm and love for this forum.

Just wondering... how are we gonna keep the Images thread on top once everyone joined in? By editing posts, the thread won't resurface, meaning we'll never know when a new pic has been added

edits don't stay on top huh? hmm. any chance that Dhabih could get in on this thing and put a permanent link at the top of the forum? maybe the ubb code can be changed so that edited posts do count as updates? i don't know how much control a user has over a ubb, but this seems like a strange overview in the code.

something will be sorted as long as enough people want it to be

Thanks for the gigantic compliment neutral? !!! *giggles* I hope many can enjoy what everyone creates! Then our efforts are well worth it

Hi Oscar, you've brought up a good point. People need to post here for 2 reasons:

  • To notify us that there are new images (so we know to look - by clicking on the Image Thread link above)
  • To keep this Thread at or near the top to provide that link to the Image Gallery (because you're right, it won't move unless someone new grabs their 1 post in it).

Between the 2 Threads, we should be able to view entered artwork fairly easily (in theory).

-k

PS: What do you think of the limit of '4'? It just seemed to fit okay and still keep load time quick (as opposed to 3)... idea was to force people to pick from their 'best' work, and keep their entries 'special.'

Okay, I think I'm feeling a bit paranoid.

In fact, so much so, that I feel compelled to take back the comment before about 'those who have spots - post pics already.'

MAKE DOUBLY SURE THAT YOUR WORK IS SIGNED AND WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO BE COPIED BEFORE YOU POST IT!

I'd hate to be responsible for creating a big, fat, hairy place full of juicy artbits for unsavory types to just steal from... Know what I mean?

See CyPHa's Thread for ideas about how to protect your artwork...

Maybe we need some kind of 'gallery watch' program or something... *shivers*

mein work is signed.. but DrBof should make us a small util, which will open up images' hex code and you could add your text at the beginning

and make it so text doesnt change if yo resave the image

Hey I think the image thread will be great if everyone who claimed a spot comes back and finishes. If you ask me... I think there should be some sort of a rule making it a necessity to post at least 4 pics in the gallery to become a member of the forum. That would weed out a few people.

Well that's certainly an interesting idea...

In the meantime, I agree with Chapel - get some images up there already! How 'bout just 1?! BUT MAKE SURE YOUR WORK IS SIGNED!!!!

I just chatted with Shadow, and realized a strength of the gallery - it's one location where beginners and advanced artists/artisans can share their pictures. Now, I don't know about you, but if I see too many totally awesome amazing zinger pics, I can lose heart. If I see work I can 'relate' to more, I feel more balanced - and actually benefit from the amazing stuff more. So, the range together should be cool

Good job, Tinusch!

mOO - what 3D package did you use for your image? It looks like Maya to me. And was there any touch-up in Photoshop afterwards?
