I'm getting ready to demo a new product for the Learning Company. Basically, its web-based interactive lessons done in Flash. There will be lots of animation in the lessons, as well as title animations for each one. Heres the one Ive put together for the demo. The end of the animation will loop with the guy getting rained on while the title appears. For now it jumps back to the first ;-)
Its my 2nd Flash animation, so critiques and suggestions are very welcome. Especially, any tips on where I could cut down file size. Ive cut it down to 180k, but that still seems like a lot.
What do ya think?

WOW! that looks very good. A couple things I saw that could maybe reduce the file size are:
1. The more you draw in flash the better. A boat drawn in flash or a fishing line is much smaller than tracing a bitmap. Granted you can't always get the line variation you'd like with drawing in flash ,but you do have to make small sacrifices to reduce file size.
2. The boat looks as if its 4 or 5 different frames that have been bitmap traced. If you draw just one boat you can move just it instead of having 5 different boats.

just little things. Any way it looks great. I'm anxious to see more

Looks really nice. good job!
I don't think you could bring down the size
of your animation by using 'another'
animating technique etc. cuz there's not
much room/need for motion nor shape tweening.

You might want to optimize some gfx, make
movieclips of anim loops, use symbols etc.
but you have probably already done that
yourself. hehe

Keep it simple, cuz it's more then ok now.

Geeeez! I'm glad I checked this post just now, if I'd have waited 'til I got off work it would have been buried on page 10 or something!
Anyway, thanks for the replies fellas!
Agent44, and Assa: I totally agree with you. That fishing line could have easily been a curve in Illustrator or something, and the boat too. I didn't think of that. I did as much as I could with movie clips, and even made the background vector in flash and not jpg as we had intended.
Thanks for your input, I'll post anims as we get them in working order :-)
Maybe others will chip in before this post sinks to the bottom of the pond again.
