I've decided my shading needs work. So I've taken it upon myself to practice a lot of geometric forms, getting progressively more complex.

1-4 I think I have figured out. 5 is confusing me though. How do cast shadows fall on a form? Any rules ala' perspective? Insight would be appreciated.

that is a good exersize to do. Nice.
Try increasing your value range and also try putting your objects in a space and not just on a white background....try putting them against different values...try making different qualities of light(candle light, moonlight, sunlight, lamplight, shadowed reflect light, etc...)
