Yeah, I agree about the gorge on the right. I fought with trying to get it looking like a wide chasm and I don't think I ever really succeeded. Any ideas why? I'm at a loss....

Solid work Jamiem.

I like blinding spot in the background, it really adds to the feel of your wasteland environment.

Nice job.

Well, it took me about a month of five minutes here and five minutes there to doodle up a response to Loki's challenge for others to envision what it would look like above the canyons of his pic.

I'm fairly happy with how this turned out, though I did lose the bright blue sky that Peter had in his original....

Any thoughts?

Nice composition. However, the perspective is off on the pyramids. They look like they are floating in space. You may want to draw out grid lines to see what I mean.

Hey!

Very nice! Awesome that you picked that one up!!!! Thanks!

Nice coloration. The diffuse lighting comes over quite well too. The camels are better than the weird animal in my last 'lodge' image!
Perspective problems are part of the world of 'Lodge' - you can see that in all of my paintings, haha

The crack to the right has some minor problems:

* the visible canyon-wall seems to be higher up than the edge closer to us. Can be solved by making a little perspective study as a guide.

* it's getting lighter and fuzzier at the bottom of the cliff.

* it looks like the canyon is turning into smoke further away. Keep the shape sharp, and only work with value ...

I also like the ground-texture and the pyramids. The left one seems to tilt to left left a little bit ...

Cool - thx!

As far as the canyon goes, there is one thing I really learned in a drawing & perspective class I took in college, and that's any time you are doing a one or two point perspective drawing; if you get too far out to the sides it can ruin the perspective and everything starts getting distorted. It can be a hard problem to fix, I was never really good at it.

But great pic anyways.

That's amazing!
But am I totally wrong if I suggest that you should put some "fog" over the camels, so they appear to be more further away?

This is great. But I agree, the perspective is a bit off -- I'm not sure if you should be seeing so much of the other sides of the pyramids. Though I'm far from an expert on that. =)

What is amazing, it works so well as a scene from a movie -- very epic shot. If you put movie text (title, etc) on it, letter box the scene, you have a eye-catching movie poster

Nice work!
