AAAAAARGH. Ok, I'm going mad....must get rage out. Our site 3DPalette has been down for close to 6 months now. In June, we moved to Gamedev.net and after an initial start on their NT server, we requested a Linux box, as stuff was just not working with 3DP's system. They agreed, and now 5 years later, we're still waiting, waiting. And what can we do? Every week, we're told it'll be ready next week, so we think "ok, well, we can wait." and the cycle repeats itself. We're pretty stupid huh? I mean why don't we just set a deadline? Because its hard, when you've been down for so long, all you want to do is get up as soon as possible, and you rationalize, that things will work out.
But they don't, and I'm going frickin nuts. I mean, should we wait, and get a sweet setup on gamedev for free, and hand over 50% of our ad revenue, or should we just say fuck it, and get ourselves a dedicated server, and pay 300 bucks a month for it? Aaaaaaaargh. I don't know. Theres's o many complication, the main ones being we know dick all about servers, and we're relying heavily on our programmer, who even if we offer whatever incentives we can, is still, not indebted to us in any means.
I've had 3 hernias, 5 ulcers, and a mental breakdown in the last few months, and only 1 of thems from my girlfriend.
Someone help me. Someone tell me to fuck gamedev and fuck all the networks, and start up my own network. Anyone want to take a jump into the deep end of the pool, and become a partner? We need a leader...someone with capital, and experience, and guts. We have 4 sites ready to go, 3D Palette, Skindom, and Mapcore all capable of a quarter million hits/month. GFX artist is interested in following.
Anyone interested? Anyone got any advice, other than to tell me to get back on my medication, or go back to Botswana?
Lets hear it. |

Try asking at http://www.gamesquad.net
They offer free hosting with unlimited space, and the best part is it's a linux box just like you need. They support pretty much everything except ASP (its for NT servers).
Their site isn't up yet but I can try getting the info from my buddy JC who's site is also hosted there.
When he got me hosted my subdomain was set up in like 3 days. Which, according to JC, is longer than usual.
Im sure they'd love to host a site like 3Dpalatte! |

Rob M, thanks for the offer. I emailed you back. If you can find out some more info, or perhaps give me the email of the main guy I'd be much obliged. BTW, if u email me back, can u cc it to [email protected] so I can check it at work. Cheers
Chapel: thanks for the info, unfortunately, their space is too small. thanks though.
Anyone else with any ideas?

No problem, I told my friend JC about you and he said he'd talk to his 'network guy' about it, I assume he means his contact with gamesquad. Hopefully I will have the contact info for you really soon.
