Without a doubt Alan Moores 'Watchmen' and Garth Ennis' 'Preacher'... theres usually alot of good stuff to be found in Heavy Metal aswell.
X-men is quite good aswell, too friggin anoying with all the crossovers tho, but the good thing that Chris Claremont is back writing.

I'd have to say Battle Chasers is my favorite book too, but I've recently become rather obsessed with a book called E.V.E
Basically, like many others, I like the Liquid! colours.

I don't read comics much, but the ones I have enjoyed so far would be 'Fathom' and 'Ascension', as well as Witchblade. I've never had a chance to look intensively at 'Battle Chasers', but I have a poster in my room of Raziel coloured by one of my favorite inkers, Liquid!.

I like all comics, but if I had to pick a favorite.. I would say Daredevil the "Fall from Grace" event. Scott McDaniels artwork and the writing was pretty awesome. My second would be Frank Miller's Dark Knight story.

Well, it may be more of a graphic novel, but Blood - a tale by JM DeMatteis and some other guy was great. I loved the watercolour work.

I love Spawn, and I think that after Greg Calpullo started penciling it instead of the all-mighty mr. McFarlane, it's gotten much better, heavier style and they started doing the coloring with computers, which gives a much cooler style to it.

hmm..
well.. I definately LOVE all the Sin City books I've read so far(read "that yellow bastard" last week). make's you wanna make a film.. pulp fiction style with short stories that all tie togehter somehow, hard-boiled as hell!!
as for brilliant art I still look through bisley's Judgement on gotham from time to time.. I have all comics bisley ever layed an hand on and they're all brilliant, allthough many suffer from totally awfull computercoloring. "Simon Coldwater" and bisley's rock power Judge Dredd are some stylish favorites.
oh.. and check out "signal to noice" by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. This time McKean did all the art, not just the cover.. |

My favs are in order of "lovedness":
1) Battle Chasers (Come back joe!)
2) E.V.E. Protomecha
3) Steampunk
4) Machina Rex
5) Old X-men Books with Jim Lee (He's my god.)
6) WildCATS (When Jim Lee was pencilling it.)
There's a ton of other ones that are/were my favs...but my comics are back home right now so I can't remember what I collected.

I hate Spawn now. I think Greg Crapullo is horrible. There is such thing as TOO much detail. I also hate his "etchy" style. Todd had the most amazing poses, and his page compositions were incredible. He was far superior to Greg Capullo. But Todd quit drawing, so I hate him now haha.
Look at some of Todd's old Spidermans, they were so good!

The best comic ever, must be John Deefool by jodorowski&moebius. ok, it's pretty new-age stuff, but i've loved those comic books since I was a kid. I believe Luc Bessons movie The Fifth Element steals more than just a few ideas from this comic...

Sandman Baby!!! Gaiman is one of the best writers of today, and his works feature some of the worlds best artists.
His latest work, The Dream Hunters, features the art of my favorite, Yoshitaka Amano, (Final Fantasy I-VI & IX-XI, Vampire Hunter D, Biten) a well-renowned modern artist.

Yeap, gotta be Frank Miller's Sin Citys, they're damn excellent, half way thru the Hell and Back series. Also Blade of the Immortal, written and drawn by hiroaki samura on the darkhorse label are xcellent too... So gone are the days of spawn, pitt and deathblow hehe. |

Spawn. No doubt. I find Greg Capullo one of the best pencilers around.
Other than that I like Darkness and Witchblade.. (Fathom, too)

Sacrilege! I dont see any Battle Angel Alita's in this list!
Sandman rules too, big time. Altough it's 99,9% story that makes it cool.

I love George Perez' new Avengers. He has a very old-school style but all the fundamentals and everything else he does are immaculate. If every artist had his design, composition and layout comic books would still be more popular than Magic/Pokemon/whatever cards

There are sooo many good comic artists out there if I had to choose on art alone there are tons of books. Jim Lee has got to be one of the best. His early X-men and Wildcats artwork was amazing. Also, when he tried a different "Frank Miller-esque" style in Deathblow it was still awesome. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Jack Kirby or any of the Kuberts. George Perez's artwork is top notch as always. Todd McFarlane in his Spiderman days was awesome (Spawn issues seemed rushed and inconsistant). Steven Platt.. sucky books but great artwork. Marc Silvestri.. started out bad following Jim Lee in X-Men, but has truly developed a great style since forming Top Cow. Travis Chavrist (prolly spelled his name wrong) from Wildcats has a fabulous style. Of course, Frank Miller is terrific. Oh and Joe Quesada and Jim Palmotti are 2 of my all time favorites.
Well.. thats just from off the top of my head. I'm sure I could list atleast a dozen more if I wanted.
