Some very nice texture and lighting work It must have been fun doing all those brush strokes for the shirt. And the strings and hair fuzz must have been great fun too!

That shell necklace sure turns out to be an interesting focal point.

first off - very nice. the texture of the shirt especially the fibers on the edge's of the sleeves are stunning.

crit - don't know how qualified i am but here we go (note all my directional reference are from his perspective)....

his left eye (the one in shadow) looks a bit rushed. seems like he has a cataract, i'd spend a bit more time on it.
overall there seems to be some issues with his shirt and its interaction with gravity. his right sleeve is bunched up while his left sleeve is not. if gravity were at play it seems that the left sleeve should be bunch a bit as it slides towards his neck while his right sleeve should unravel as it travels down his arm towards the ground.
lastly it seems as though the weight of the ornamentation around his neck should be pull down by gravity so it rests against the left side of his neck and the slack should be on the lowerside....

overall very nice...

edible snowman: I did it with photoshop's paintbrush Must sound like mad.. But I think that is about the only way to do it if u want it to go along the shirt so that it looks (almost) real. The most important part must be to study some real fabric before painting. Otherwise it might get a bit difficult.

Francis: Well, I didn't have any direct reference. But, I have painted all the stuff here before: dreadlocks, that kind of fabric, I have studied the look of african people etc. So I quess I could say that I had some reference in a way
phreaknasty: Yup, it seems like you are qualified. It's true all that you said about this pic. Really, heh, the sleeves sure looks a bit odd now that I look at them and think about the gravity. How the hell was I so blind that I made it that way? Uh well, let's pay more attention to gravity next time.

Damn me and my schedule. Can't fix this until next week or something... Quess who is in high school and having an exam week?

What do you say?
This is probably another post that gets maybe one or two replies and then it gets forgotten in the endless sea of posts just like this one.
Oh well, anyway. enjoy..

If anyone else thinks the way I do, then this post should get lots of replies, because I think that is one AWESOME pic. really nice texturing on the clothing, too.

Smashing! Great texture in the shirt and I like the white paint on his face. Is the right eye (from his pov) open btw, it looks a bit weird now.. And maybe it's just the hanging dreadlocks but the neck area looks odd to me. Just my two cents, disregard at will.

Great portrait nevertheless.

Yes. The right eye is open. But it's dark and not very finished. My mistake..
The neck is also my stupid mistake I made in the beginning of this pic when I made the sketch. I should have had more attention on that area. Hey kids, learn from my mistake here: PLAN CAREFULLY

Thanks for the feedback so far!
