hello peoples..
dunno if this is digital art.. what is digital art ? .. well.. this i s q esution about photoshop..

when you create a new file.. there's
width height etc.. does resolution do a lot? i kinda stuffed mine up and i was wondering if you people could tell me ur resolution? thankyou everyone and sorry if this was a waste of space

If you enter width and height in pixels, DPI doesn't matter at all.

Dpi will matter if you want to print it. Never work less than 72 dpi. The most importatnt thing is the pixels but if you want to print something you'll need more than 72 dpi. about 150 for an inkjet print and for profesional stuff anywhere between 300 and 600 dpi. So it depends what you're doing it for. a monitor can only display at 72 dpi. so If you want to show stuff on the webthen thats fine, but if you maybe want to print it make the rez higher (at least something like 150dpi). If you have a huge pixel size but only 72 dpi and you want to print it you'll have to resize. which will loose you a bit of definition/quality.
This is pretty complecated. have a look in the manual or help in your application. there should be some sort of explenation.
if you're working on something it's better to have small dimensions in terms of cm/inches and a larger dpi (it stands for dots per inch btw). the pixel size can be the same.
If you don't unerstand the base concepts then find some information in lay terms. Or you may find that you've spent a lot of time on something and it's very small or can't be printed.

Yeah resolution will make a lot of difference.

Lets say you have a file 10cm by 10cm at 72dpi (screen display) and the same file (10cm by 10cm) but at 144 dpi. This file will actually be 4 times as big (remember 2D - height and width), which means the larger the file and dpi, the faster processor and more RAM you need so your machine will give you instant responses and you don't have to wait for redraws etc.

Yes, if you enter the dimensions in inches or centimeters, DPI will matter. If you enter them in pixels, you can have a DPI of 1 or 20 million, it won't make a difference. A pixel is a pixel, no matter what the DPI.
