hello everyone who reads this..
(i posted this in the other forum but i pasted it into here as well.. sorry if this is spamming)
im new at these forums and ive been reading all your comments and tips and stuph
well my question is
do you have to do art to actually receive a job when you get older?
well im in yr10 and in a few months ill be in 11 .. and im not currently doing art as a subject, which means im quite a bit behind.
well i like graphics and in these holidays i started checknig up lots of sites and drawing lots of and stuff.. and im gonna get a tablet and stuff.. im not too sure if ill take this up as a primary job later on so i am a bit confused if i need art as an elective?
well if what i said didnt make any sense.. well.. it sounds kinda wrong to me too well .. if anyone replies that would be great..
thankyou everyone

It all depends on you bell_maker. If you like art then take it. If you don't then don't. (unless your school makes you, then you have no choice) Just find something you like and try to stick with it. |

Creative is not something that can be taught, it is something you are given. If you are artisticly inclined, then yes I would suggest taking a ART class, they are fun. |

I'm doing Art A-level (for 'doing' read 'failing') but I didn't do GCSE Art, so I guess if your school'll let you...
The only major prob as I can tell is getting the whole sketchbook mentality set up, oh and practising.

Anyone can LEARN how to make art. Just like anyone can LEARN to play the violin. But it takes a natural born master to make it truely sing.
If you know you've been born with it, i'd say go for it. If you love it, do it. |

Doot, if you're interested in art you should pratice alot, thats the only way to get better. But i'm not sure if your interest stays long enough though..... |

yeah, the main requirement is left handedness ;-) I never took art as an elective until last year (im 15) all i ever did was draw in class, instead of paying attention. I dont recommend this unless your a genius like me:-) |

While some have talents for spaceial perception, you do not have to possess any great quantity to be an artist.... just LOVE what you do...practice all the time... most of your education artisticaly will come from you THIRSTING for knowladge or it will not come.
I have been drawing all my life, 'cus I love it.... but I just started playing a penny whistle. I have no sence of timing. The first month I played, I was HORRABLE. I started playing marry had a little lamb... then moved up to Yanki Doodle. Now, just 2 months later, I'm playing Jigs, Hornpipes, and Reals... not perfect, but 200 times better than when I had no experiance.... and I still have lost of room to improve.
Have simmilar expectation of your self in the visial arts. Take one step at a time, and soon you will be painting syphonies.

I got someone in my familly that got into art pretty late in his life after making almost any kind of jobs.
He today lives extremely well of his art so there is absolutely no age to learn how to appreciate art.
Just find something, anything that you're really pationate about and that you'd give years of your life of utter dedication to without a second thought.
Oh yeah and stick to it, always look around and learn.
I ought not to give advices at 3:30 am

Who said if you were over 15 you were too old? I never took an art class in my life and didn't start drawing until I was 18 (4 years ago). I agree that you have to enjoy what you are doing. I've been doing it in every single moment of spare time I have while doing engineering at uni. For me, engineering isn't for me. It's cliche but find what you love doing, than figure out how to get paid for it. Don't do something because you can't get paid for it (at the same time, starving is stupid).
Be patient with your art. I find most people pick up a pencil and think they should be able to be an expert and if they are not, give up. How many people pick up a violin and play Mozart straight off? Don't let people tell you what you can't do because there are alot that will. Listen to people on this forum as they take the time to respond and trying to help one another. Usually people are critical but are trying to offer suggestions on how to improve.
Probably does help that I'm left handed though.
