hello all.

not sure how i found this site, but i think somebody linked to it from the designsbymark.com forum. anyway, i've been looking for a good forum to post some art and this looks cool. all of the art ive seen is excellent work so far. here is a drawing i painted digitally. i pencilled, inked, then scanned it. i originally wasn't going to color it so excuse the dark lines

oh, and can anybody recommend some good tutorials for digital painting, ive found a couple, but would like to look at some more.

Welcome to the forum. The image looks nice and is showing signs of really turning into something. The main thing that jumps out is his right hand side of the face. Behind the jaw and check, the face looks a little too 'pushed' in extending from up behind the eye to below the jaw line.

Maybe easy up on the black a little (in the clothes and image in general) and try to use darker shades of blue to create the same effect. (in Photoshop, select a dark blue colour, set you smudge tool to 'color', then drag the brush from the blue in the image to the black. You may have to do this several times. This should replace the black with the dark blue. Just a suggestion). Try to give the wood some highlights and a greater range of brown colours as it is looking a little flat at the moment. Also, when you get a chance, do something with the background as there is nothing there to grab attention.

As for tutorials, go back to the main page here (www.sijun.com) as there is a really good one here that should give you some ideas.

I like the way the image is coming along and just trying to give some suggestions - try not to think that I'm being over-critical
