This may end up being a monstrously retarded post but take a look at this. It's part of a 3.5" floppy drive. Now at the risk of sounding like a freak, doesn't it just look cool?
I mean this'd make a great website interface or bacground for an image with some tweaking. Especially if done in greyscale.
Check out the coils and the circuit patch surrounding the coils.
OK, now you can call me a spaz all you like.

Well, I'll be taking an old 1 GB hard drive apart in a few mins. I'll see if I can come up with any other stuff. |

Whew! About time! I finally got that hard drive apart, I didn't really find any cool textures or patterns except this.
The circuit paths in this PCB are really intricate so it does look pretty cool.
Hope you like it! I will see if I can find other stuff that'd make good textures, etc.

Very cool idea, thanks for the textures.
If you are going to use that for an interface
I would recommend at least a small amount
of digital manipulation. Just personalize
it a little. I think you were headed in the
right direction with your grayscale idea.

heheheh
I should hope not! I just happen to have a lot of old computer hardware lying around.
The dude- I'd definetly manipulate it. What I meant was that the form itself just looks cool and would be a great pattern to follow for an interface.
I think it'd look really cool if the coils were wrapped around some sort of metallic posts with maybe some electrical arcs shooting throughout them.
All in all I think the top image just plain looks neat!
heheheh

I've some scans too!
here's my old soundcard
and here's an old mainboard
I have to say that I had to scan my mainboard in two parts, you can see it where i put them together!
Files with less compression are also available!
Maybe I could scan my old Soundblaster AWE64 or some really old grapic cards...
So long, mumpizz

LOL
The sad part is I really do happen to have a thunderbird and a P-II lying around...but IM not taking them apart! They still work.
The other stuff I disassembled was no longer working.
