Well, after ordering my tablet (went with the 6x8 intuos usb version), it finally showed up a few weeks ago...
allI have to say is, wow! i can't believe the level of detail and precision I'm having with this thing in Photoshop...
but anyway, I'm not trying to endorse... I've got some questions..
first, do any of you really use Painter? I've seen some pics some of you have done, and you mentioned using it.. i've only played with it a little.. i don't like the interface much.. really odd and quirky. Just wanted some feedback on what you guys think of it, and if there are any real uses for it vs non-uses....
also, I'm a little less than satisfied with the quality of sketching with it. painting with it is the bomb, but when I attempt to draw something, its really awkward (vs painting) and the refresh rate on it doesn't seem to be high enough for sketching as fast and fluidly as I do...
as of right now, I'm sticking with scanning images in and painting them... what do you guys prefer, out of curiosity?
and lastly, this is more of a stylistic issue, do you find removing pencil marks and replacing them with an actual brush from PS to look more cg-like in the final version?
Just some thoughts

Painter:
Well - just got into Painter6. In this commercial I'm working on, we have to animate famous paintings. One of them is Goya's "Maja" - I had to completely remove her from the sofa she's laying on. Photoshop wasn't gonna do it - no matter how I tricked out the custom brushes.
So I jumped into painter. Interface is kinda clunky, but with two monitors it's ok. And the customizability and quality of the brushes is awesome. After a short but tedious run-up time I had no problems with it - I wanna use it more often now!
