I'm enjoying your B+W stuff a lot Veb.
About the other thing I wasn't aware that all the Conan or otherwise barbarian pics you post were for commercial purposes. If so then sorry for criticising content. There is very little room to move in that sort of situation. Not to mention that given the demographic of buyers in that market your stuff is pretty spot on.
Believability I think is not much of an issue in that arena.
I would however inquire as to whether you are at all interested in "if that is plausible" Take for instance a Frazetta painting called "The Brain" (pg 101 of Legacy). I mean maybe it has a veiled meaning and I don't quite get it, but that is one of the most stupid painting I've seen. Everythings good. Nice little composition nice colours, nice rendering. Nice pose.... except for the fact that the guy has these horns and his arms are drawn back behind them ready to strike his adversary with his kewl looking sword. Maybe I'm missing something but he's gonna have to break his neck to get his sword anywhere near that guy.
So, if for example, there being a situation like this where someone sees a flaw that impairs believability yet doesn't really detract from the picture, and maybe helps sell more product. Are you interested?
I'm just trying to get some idea of what you are interested in hearing. I mean I love fantasy stuff I love your work I'll buy your book when it comes out . But Even though I can't get enough Frazetta I always laugh a bit at this sort of thing. I'd still buy whatever mag it was on the front of but I wouldn't regard it quite as highly, as something that looks as if the creator has stoped to think about plausibility just a bit. There are different extents to this I'm sure from compleatly historicaly accurate to just avioiding stuff tlike what I have ementiond above (the likes of which I haven't seen in any of your work, and probably never will).
Hope this isn't taken that wrong way I'm just curious.

If you want to keep only art with 'plausability' you're losing 90% of what has been ever painted or drawn... hahaha
You're also loosing almost every movie made on Earth.
Get rid of plausability. |

Veb, I think your art is great, and so is this picture. The only small crit I have is with the sword of the girl. It is not so much of it being too big (as long as you intended it to be BIG), but the fact that it seems very light. Look at how Conan is holding the sword: besides the fact that he is probably in a defensive pose, he uses both hands and his sword does seem heavy. The chick, though, is holding that megasword with just one hand, and without much effort. If you want her to hold it with just one hand I think her body should try to balance the weight somehow.
You commented on comic-books. Have you ever thought to make a comic book in this B&W style. I think it would be great.
