Poxen emailed me and asked me to do a painting and save the steps of it, so
i painted the Goblin that he did.
I changed the shapes a little bit trying to make him look more mean. Also the skintone were made more warm.I think i used 2-3 hours.

That's it.. I'm going to sleep with the lights on tonight...
But really amazing colours Micke. Any chance we could see this painting's steps like you mentionned ?

Enough with these self-portraits!
Seriously, you have a great gift in bringing life to your work, they really feel like they could breathe. Do you use pre-mixed palette with selected tones (as with real oil-drawing) you do you just randomly pick up colours and see how they work with the picture?
How about all those steps, could you post them too?

Ive never seen such a mean looking goblin ever.
What the trick to get those "rough" shapes, cant seem to get it, mu pics just gets sooo smoothed out.

Woah!
You scare me sometimes micke
A few Qs
how long is this sort of thing taking you?
Are those Initial B+W lines done in PS or on paper?
Bewtween 3 and 4 you've warmed up the greens a bit? if so do you do this using some adjust slider, or repainting?
Cheers |

Micke you've done it again! Great work...
yes I would also like to know if the original
line work is done on paper or digitally.

I know that this is prolly a stupid question, but what medium/brush is this in Painter?
I feel like a total retard using Painter, and it never works like I expect it to.
Thanks!

Hey Micke, I noticed you use a neutral gray in the early stages. Does it help out with your color schemes?
Great stuff!! Is this on a site anywhere?

Hey Micke,
this pic of the goblin looks remarkaby similar to a particular evil-eyed self-portrait you have on your site. Sharp cheeck bones, B.J. Blascowicz chin and your signature eyes! Have I freaked you out with these obersvations? :P
Regardless, I think Poxen's Honey and your gobby should hook up! |

Micke this simply rules.
I cannot beleive how incredible real it seems. There is definate presense in it. Incredible work. Makes me wonder what he is gonna say or kill or bite or something.
Simply freaky.
Great work Micke.
I also wondered what kinda job you have? If it has to do with your artistic talent or not?
Thanks!

micke: Nah, nothing new here... laying low, working a lot. I sketch things and do crap once in a while, nothing good at all really. Just taking it easy -- smoking my pipe, reading the paper in my rocking chair, etc. =) |

micke - this i great... not only the picture but the inclusion of the steps.
i would be great if some of the more talented artist here such as yourself would willing to do this more often. i tend to learn best from example... 2 questions.
1)whats your basic brush setup. ie, brush opacity, brush type (custom, fuzz, or hard), photoshop stylus setting (size, color, or opacity) and the like
2)any chance you could post some larger versions of the prelim steps.
i can't express enough my appreciation for those of you who lend so much time and effort to this forum and teaching the rest of us. |
