You were asking about texturing in Photoshop - I actually started making illustrations in Photoshop without any sketches, starting with a texture (in this case a picture of bark) and copying/skewing/rotating/dodging/burning them into shapes as needed. I'd suggest trying it out, it's a pretty simple way of adding as much detail as you'd like.
In my case, I need to actually work back to making line drawings, because my work is started to look way too textured.

Hey, thanks to you. I like your style. And I would like to test your method with my style... but, I had to give that tablet back. It wasn't mine. This guy just lend it to me, to show me that WACOM is still the best

newt, that is BRILLIANT! i did this method once before but the result wasn't much. now i see what can be done! my god, i've just experienced a revelation!!!

this is a great piece in itself too.

Actually - I don't have a Wacom tablet. This was done with a mouse and Photoshop 4.0.
