Hey everybody, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things again. Been real busy with a heapload of other crap. Too busy to finish my webpage, or even do some personal art stuff. But, I just did last night the number corresponds to the dvd's frame number
it's been awhile since I did any portrait stuff, what do you think?

That rocks. I love the suttle tones and shading. ISn't that the part where...hmmm damn I have to go watch it again? Really nice work, I would love to draw from movies but my comp and TV are at opposite sides of house (that ain't good for buisness) DVD is awesome, here in singapore we use these shitty low rez VCDs. They are cheap as dirt but all pixelated (consequently bad painting material) oh well, nice job, Im envious, keep up the good work.

Yeah it's not just a frame from the movie, I stared at that damn scene for about 5 hours painting it, mouse and Pshop. If it was tape I would have to buy the movie again
CapnPyro - I have heard that she looks old from others also, but some have said it looks great. I'm too attached to it to see it either way. As far as the old critique any suggestions on what you would do to correct it.
And thanks Ian & agent44 for your comments, I appreciate it.

"Neo, I have to tell you something but I'm afraid of what it will mean if I do." or something like that.
Do I have the right scene? The old subway station at Balboa? |

hmmm, you could try softening up the wrinkles in her face, that may make her look younger. Also the neck area is another area to look for in ageing. Maybe shorten the length of the face too. That's all I can think of, where is Fred or Spooge when ya need em?
Great stuff You plan on doing more. I love those eyes!
My dvd only pauses for 5 minutes But it's great for getting the hang of storyboarding...I have a sketch book full of those 5 minute B&W scenes from Excalibur and Conan..ever do anything like that? it's fun and it drives your neighbors crazy with the constant silence, sound, silence sound..hehehe |

It looks like she just snorted a line of coke....to get her to look younger, soften the smile creases around the mouth as well as soften the neck. A dead giveaway on the age of a woman is how her neck looks. You might want to soften the nose a bit too.
Other than that, nice work.
I'm still trying to figure out why you didn't paint her from the neck down...that would've made it *VERY* interesting!

nori - thanks
eclipse - right on
samdragon - thanks for the good suggestions. I just have been buying some more DVD's lately, and for practice I might do more. Excalibur happens to be one of my new purchases.
AprilYSH - thanks, if I get the chance I would love to. I don't do this for a living, so this is on free time, when I have some, but I will keep it in mind.
SaltyDog - some more good suggestions. They may seem logical but I did it fast and didn't think of them at the moment. My friend said the same thing he wants me to paint the scene where her and Neo are on the rooftop and she's walking toward the helicopter, showing us all of her ass..ets.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I will try to incororate them and post the fixes
