ive been looking at a lot of concept art websites and all i have to say is wow! That stuff is amazing (vortx's comes to mind) Do concept artists come up with all this stuff on their own, or do they research or have other people ask them to draw something. |

To look at concept designs you have to understand how designs in the past are recognized and analyzed, even subconciously, by the average person. So if you have to design, say, an airplane, you figure out what response you want from the viewers, then look at the basic designs of airplanes in the past that ellicit that response, and figure out what it is about those designs that bring about that reaction. Incorporate those or similar aspects into your design.
