He looks a little timid for a giant...but this may be what you're looking for (when I think of giants, I think of huge beasts destroying villages and whatnot)...maybe pull your perspective down towards the ground, where the view is looking up at his immense (sp?) body. |

Hiya Jenn!
That's looking cool! The thing about giants is that you really need to compare them with something the viewer recognises in order to get a sense of his size. For instance, if he was holding a tree - scratching his back with it say - then the viewer gets a good sense of scale. It looks great as is but could be mistaken for a genie as the size can't be determined.
I like giants, I'm gonna be watching this one. |

Ceendas right. Another thing you could do is draw it from a different perspective. Maybe looking up at him. |

Hes goign to be in a picture with another character 'Zoe' Which is part of soemthing I have been trying to work on for a while now... http://asylum.wibble.net/zoe.html
The image there is REALLY old.. FE suggested that I draw her with a sword behind her back coaxing him closer with a mischevious look on her face... :|
I haven't drawn many males before...

Basically, Giants I usually see in books are the same build as normal people, unlike dwarfs who's limbs are pretty short which gives them a drawf like feel.. So to give off the element of being BIG is to have objects surrounding the giant in mini porportions... Ive attached a pic of a Frost Giant next to a dwarf, It was in an RPG. I hope it might help out.

In addition to everyone else's comments, you may also want to consider the physiology of the giant's body... The main feature would be huge, bulky legs and feet to support the massive weight. Adding that in might help your sketch. Also, a lot of giant drawings I've seen have had very caveman-like faces. I don't think there's any real reasoning behind this, but it's something that's been done a lot, so you might want to use it as yet another visual cue. Otherwise, the part of the body you've drawn looks very convincing... it just needs something more.
But yeah, lowering the POV and adding other objects around the giant would make the biggest difference.
Incidentally, are his hands behind his back because he's supposed to look shy, or because you don't feel like drawing his hands? 'Cause he looks shy. Which is something you don't see very often in giants. |

Another thing that might clearify the scale could be everyday-objects of your chosen realm connected with tools or clothing the giant is carrying/wearing. Something like a wagonwheel for a knob on his vest maybe. Just a thought...

Hmm... giants don't exist. So just make them any way you like. Bigger feet and all in my oppinion is just so relative... their bone structures would be proportionally the same as ours, as they would have the same bone/flesh/blood ratios as we do... but hey, they're just giants... look at how the giants/gods look in Lionhead's Black & White (game), and you'll see that anything dealing with giants is pretty much up in the air.
The only real giant (headed freak) is Romero. =) |

He he, Deus Ex was great, which isn't surprising as it was the one Romero stayed away from. |

Keep it down, you guys... The next thing we know, the Big R will be heading over here, if we're not careful. You don't want that, do you? |
