Someone said in a previous thread that portraits were not my fort. So, that's as good a reason as any to start practicing!
I was flicking through one of the magazines in the Sunday papers and a kinda Austin Powers voice said "Yeah, baby, Yeeeeaaaaaah!!!".

It needs more nakedness!
Just kidding...looks real good to me. I
think the face seems a little flat to me, but
not too much so. Nice work.

Thanks for the crits!
The left eye does look a bit disproportionate, I'll try and correct it.
I'm thinking of going over the pic with perhaps a much darker shade but I don't know if that would make it better. |

Hiya ceenda!
Looks great and very stylish
I like the nose best.. you really got that nailed.
(Asterix and Cleoparta [edit]--uh Cleopatra.. damn I cant type[/edit] comes in to my mind..)
over her right eye the shadow comes down to the brow.. I am not sure but I think it should stay parallel to it maybe.
The lower lip could use a bit more dark tone and a bit more volume for my personal taste.
And maybe the chin is a bit too sharp-- but I am just stumbling in the dark here.. don't know how its supposed to be.
looks really very nice.

Looks good Ceenda, Although....
I think the left eye has too much of a contrast. I think you should lighten it up just a tad so that the background color does not get involved in the face value.
Also, I hate to say it. But I really hate Heads with no necks + shoulders, When doing a portriat I think you should include Upper body, just looks better and less tackier IMHO.
Other then that good job! (Like the hair! ) |

Cool pic.
Love the hair. Hair is one of those things I hate doing, and usually skimp on time wise. Aside from the undershadow on that eye that eveyone has mentioned, the only thing that snags at my eye is the left eyebrow. You have all this detail in the hair on none on the eyebrow. I mean of course it could be a painted on eyebrow, if disregard! If not maybe a little more unevenness or a bit of specular detail on the hairs in the eyebrow.
Anyway, as I said before, love that hair!
Rock on.

nori- I concur, dude! Except with the priase jesus (typo intended) part.
ceenda -- Really nice. Love the hair! A few things:
The eyes look too large. Given the fact that eyes are one of the most prominent features of the face, many artists tend to overemphasize them. I admit I do sometimes...it's a real challenge to get the correct proportions. Her left eye (right eye from her perspective) should be slightly smaller due to foreshadowing that occurs with the perspective of her face.
Her mouth looks very slightly out of proportion. The indentation at the top of her mouth is slightly wider than the indentation just below the nose. You might want to fix that. Her chin looks like one big round circle rather than showing actual jaw structure (and I notice some slight unevenness where you erased part of the outline). I really love the hair. Awesome work.
Apologies for all these nitpicks (especially when I'm not at the level most of the artists are here; heck, I'm not even an artist yet), but I think you have potential for portrait painting. Would love to see more portrait work from you.

That's really nice work ceenda, especially the hair. Groovy baby!
A couple comments: put a little bit of detail in the iris of the eyes. Doesn't have to be much, but she's looking a little spawn-of-satanish right now.
And the bottom of the chin could use some shading so that it doesn't look so flat.
Grrrrrrrr baby, grrrrrrrr. |

This picture is really nice ceenda! You're improving fast!
The only thing that bothers me a little bit is her left eye (don't ask me why).
The hair is great! |
