Very cool Veb. I like that cat-thing the most. But errrm...don't you think she looks a little silly with no counterpart for her upper clothing. especialy since it's pretty full on armour
But anyway, each to their own

Top stuff.

Cool, except this is just a re-work of a classic Frazetta poster.

Warrior Chick: "You've eaten my battle trousers, you naughty, NAUGHTY, tiger!!!"

You are exceedingly talented vebjorn. Your B & W stuff certainly seemse to be where your style comes through at it's strongest.

I think most fantasy artist have put a babe and some beast beside each other in various poses, as I said nothing really original. BUT no blatant ripoff of any I can remeber either. Not the same tiger/lion/panther nor the same babe as either..just similar scene.

Probably working more in BW will make my own style break more free from the Frazetta like look when I apply color directly onto a pencil sketch. Which is caused mostly by learning to use paint by looking at his art.
I really appriciate your comments and critics. (Helps me become a better artist)

I have a question Veb: are you more inspired by Frazetta or Boris Vallejo? On your website I can see a Vallejo influence, mostly in the way you light some of your scenes (especially the kind of 'shiny' skin that Vallejo likes to do). And in your B&W there is more of Frazetta 'strength' albeit with your own personal style. I think you could have a very strong personal style if you were going away from the Vallejo stuff, and keep the same simplicity, effectiveness and raw energy you have in your B&W.
For example your color work shows more 'lines' and clearly defined shapes that your B&W, which is kind of funny.
As a conclusion I think you're very good but that you could become really GOOD.
Paint on!

Well, at the moment I`ve removed them both from my mind, and try to totally work from my own mind....

As for the things om my site..it`s about 50/50 Frazetta for pure kickass and Boris for sellout..Although some which I used models the very Boris way, started with Boris giving me some help via mail after seeing my old images.(maybe I would have been better without..hehe) Also the conan publisher liked the look I made in the "Ohbaby" image and wanted me to make some Boris like images, and they sold very well. I`m not sure how my newer stuff is affecting sales, but usually it`s just a couple 1000 copies up or down anyway..no biggy.

Hey Veb,
have you looked at Rick Berrys stuff?
His style reminds me of yours, but in a more "refined" way.
here is a link to his site
http://www.braid.com/recent.html
The link above isn't to thier home page, but directly to some of Rick Berry's works (first two you see)
another artist is Alex Ross..hehehe
check his stuff out for a different style of painting.

GREAT B&W stuff!!!

Love it. The contrast of the white lower body against the black sillouette is perfectly balanced with the rest of the image. If she had leather battle-pants on, her lower body would dissappear into the black mass. The only thing I would add would be something in the bg. The stark white sky seems slightly vacant. Gray cloud/atmospheric effects, maybe? nice work.

Nice pic, vebjorn

I see some Bizley influence in there as well. Am I wrong? I met Bizley at the Sandiego con, and boy...does this man rule in real life too or what!?

influences aside...your pictures still rock, Vebjorn, and that's whats count!

I think the piece would look good left the way it is unpainted but that's just my opinion. It reminds me of some of Yoshitaka Amano's work (Sandman, Final Fantasy character designs).

Boomstick: I also met Bisley in San Diego 2 years ago, and this changed my life! No really.
Bisley is the ultimate ass kicker!

But I don't think there is a lot of Biz inluence in Vebjorn work.

Vebjorn: carry on man! Do you do covers for books? In scandinavia?

Are there any good art schools in Oslo or somewhere else in the south east part of norway? I live just south of Strmstad (I'm quite sure that u know where that is =) since 99,9% of the norweigan population comes there to buy booze
And I havn't found anything interesting enough here in sweden =/

and again.. love your art =)

Just out of curiosity, ShiniGami, do you have a link to that Frazetta pic you mentioned?
