Allright, well, if any of you saw the Alien thread, I for once participated in something on the forum. I did a nice little alien sketch, and well, now I've begun to color it. I really need some constructive criticism, as I seem to be running into more and more problems with this guy. Dont be afraid to slaughter it.. I hope to learn a lot from this piece. Anyway, here's the pic.
You can tell it's far from being finished, I'm justing hoping to get some crit before it becomes to hard to change things.

Well I'm not an expert but apart from the fact that it's not finished nothing jumps out to me as blatantly wrong. There's no "Oh my god where did that bit come from?" feeling...
Don't take my word for it since I can't draw very well but it seems alright, and just needs a finish up and lots of details... :-)

Haha! hilarious, even with those claws, he doesn't look a bit threatening :]
There are a few things I'd change before going any further:
1st. the arms don't look symmetrical from elbow down. In his/her right hand, all the three "fingers" seem to be next to each other, (it's a bit hard to make out which finger is which). However, in his/her left arm, one of the fingers seems to work as a thumb (the claw points in another direction). Check the shading in the right hand claws, too.
2nd. the legs. They aren't sketched out as clearly as the rest of the pic. His/her right leg seems to bend under the torso, as if he/she was going fall to the ground.
Tail looks good, excluding the part where it connects to the body.
Light source seems to be right in front of the alien so there should be nothing casting shadow on the tail nor the lower half of the body. In the legs, the light seems to be coming from right...
That's all I can think of, hope to save you some trouble.

What kind of problems are you having? And are you talking about problems colouring or with the drawing. I can see a few things mainly in the forearms and legs. But seeing as it is a rather non documented subject I don't know what you want to do with it or whether I'd be right in criting the anatomy
A bit more elaboration would be good .
How are you going to colour btw? Paint over it or go comicbook/Anime.

Hmm, well thanks for the crit.. I was looking for a bit of help with the lighting, and somehow I screwed up on the right arm (his left).
He wasnt really ment to look scary or menacing. It was a concept of an alien... not all large claw bearing aliens are meanies!
Bah, I duno weather to finish this or not. It's obviously not workin out, so I think I'll start over.

Thats a really cool sketch Bizarde. Thanks for your input, I'll take your advice.
However, I tried to escape human like features as much as possible with my claw character, simply because that was the task in the thread. But then again, alien life probably would look more like something along the lines of bacteria, or something totally unsymetrical. I tried to keep it as real as possible, only real being relative to life somewheres else, not here as some evil incarnate.
