figured with all these catalog posts (concepts, portraits cartoons) I'd start one with people trying to be as imaginative as possible, so here's the deal, most life on earth (above the water surface anyways) is a tube with manipulators, meaning it eats at one end, poops in the other, and has extensions it uses to move/use things, now, how about an alien that is TRULY alien, Giger was on the right path eliminating the eyes, lets try creating life while eliminating as much as possible? I'll post mine later on, mostly cus I need to scan it in, but hey I'd like to see others'

I'm not quite sure what inspired this one.. but its one of my better recent drawings. I know I fouled up on the hooves. I'll fix that later.

I like the aliens in Oddworld, Abe's Odessey and Abe's Exodus.. those buggers are not quite like any lizard, or crustacean or mammal on our planet, save Abe and the Glukkons... the rest have oddly humanoid features, like heads, legs, arms.
The good stuff is fingers as a mouth for those soldier aliens and the eyeless dog critters.
Still, apart from what they are supossed to be like, they look nothing like most animals on earth. So I think they are fairly TRUE to alien form (without being too unfamiliar to make the game unfun).

Yeah, you should Shahar2k, heh. This is pretty fun actually. Its a good way to let loose my mind. I did another one, only its a bit different.. almost seems like something Synj might do, if he turned it into an ass, but I just dont have that kind of taste.
I'll call him Peeblesnoop for now.

yah, I have that much hair... well hopefully I WILL have time to resketch the folowing, but here goes, I'm gonna post the original two drawings, but these are about 4 years old, oh and waco, that brownpaper sketch inspired the post after a while, the earthlike skeletal structure (spinal cord? I don't need no stinking spinal cord!) becomes predicable with what you can do to it... admittedly mine isn't AS inventive as I'd like but here goes

Alright, here's a couple of tongue-in-cheek concepts from a few years back...
The Pffousst: Buoyed by an unfortunate excess of trapped gas, this creature propels itself along paddling the ground with strokes of its vestigial forelimbs.
The Zaaarrghh!: This gentle, peace-loving race has inexplicably gone unmolested for years, despite the mineral wealth and strategic importance of their planet. They are most notable for their odd, apparently purposeless cranial formations...

I agree, the originality of the creatures of Oddworld is stunning, not to mention the quality of the concept art. Take a look at these concept pieces the Oddworld PDs did. Remember, I didn't draw these so I don't ask for credit (ha ha).

heh this is some pretty cool stuff, I must say Oddworld is one of THE greatest collection of great concepts ever made, nearly every single creature there exhudes charecter and style, (and although my fingermonster, looks like a scrab, I drew it BEFORE I saw those.... I swear) I just had an Idea for another Alien, hopefully I'll have it up soon
hey zayats, that looks like the Iron giant crossed with Megaman with footwear from the gundam series :)
