Here's Gimli the Dwarf from JRR Tolkein's Fantasy series, "The Lord of the Rings". Gimli son of Gloin from The 13 of Thorin Oakenshield's company(sheesh I'm fanatical).
Ok I want to get the lighting right before I color this in. since the light source is in back, I was thinking it would be too dark, so I drew a mountain, and I"m expecting the light to bounce off the mountainside and reflect down on the right side of the dwarf, while some light is still reflected from the left. Does this sound plausible? I need LOTS of advice for Lighting. Please comment, thanks!

I really like fantasy settings. Your drawing really looks good Ewok.
Please post the painted piece when your done. I would like to see how it turns out.

Nice...
The only thing I'd comment on, are his proportions...He looks like a gigantic norseman rather than a dwarf... ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

pretty good..
as Visigoth said- he doesn't look very "dwarfish"... i'd expect the head to be much larger in relation to the torso and the rest of the body.
i'm also a bit bothered by the way he holds the axe- doesn't seem natural when his hands are this close to the blade. |

Well yea he seems a bit big..But you can't really tell since there is nothing compare him with:P Anyways, about the Axe, I had it so that he was going to stab an orc with the end of it, but I never got around to that and the axe stuck. hrmm...resize the head, sounds like a good advice
I think I should make the axe less white as well..
thanks for the previous comments, but ..
now...can ppl comment on the lighting Please! |

Looks like he is high on PCP and happily about to impale his head on the end of the axe blade
Just kidding, it's really nice! I like it alot, and especially j.r.r. tolkien's crap. I mean crap in a nice way.
Oh, and the lighting looks good! The helmet looks like metal though its a bit hard to tell where the light source is. But it would be quite ambient during the day time I imagine. |
