Well, at the risk of this being shovelware...
I put these up on Golongria's "Concept Sketch" thread, but it was already a few days old, and since I got no response I'm gonna assume noone saw them buried at the bottom of an old post...
These are all from my site, so sorry to those who're thinkin' AWWW! Where's the NEW stuff?? I'm tryin' honest! But as Fred can attest, they don't leave me much time here at Prest-for-time-o. I AM in the middle of a P-shop pic I hope to get back to work on soon. Till then...

Cool stuff. Is the 'steampunk' guy a concept for Beneath? What happened to this game, man? Why was it cancelled? I was really looking forward to play it. |

Nice work Phil. I especially like the car on the lower left of the first pic. The contrast of materials is nicely done. The carbon fiber-ish thing on the last dude is cool too (how did you do that btw? primsa pencil? or photoshop?....geez...you can't tell these days).
When's the next time you guys are gonna be up in LA? We should hang out. Art center just started their term....and i'm gonna go sit in on some of the classes. Drop by sometimes and we can sketch together..=)

Indeed, the steam-powered cyborg guy was a concept for Beneath. Unfortunately the game was yet another victim of corporate restructuring... Activision had a bad quarter, canned the execs, got a new CEO from Proctor & Gamble. His first act was to cancel EVERY product that wasn't a sequel or licenced property. Almost killed us as a company, we were %80 done. Luckily we were doing a Star Trek game with them at the same time. That one, of course, they kept.
We load it up and play it every once in awhile just to make ourselves cry... Would've been beautiful...we demoed it for the lead programmer of Indy & Infernal Machine and all he could say was... "boy we're lucky that didn't come out!" Too bad... two long years of my life down the tubes... |

Very nice stuff WacoMonkey. I agree that the bottom car is very well rendered. Hmm, I'm not even there yet, and you were doing this 4 years ago.. hmm =) Great work, post more if you got any. |

Cool, original Gundam 78 feets as a background! These concept sketches are very fun to look at, especially the CAT bot.
Hey, do me a favor... when you're all done at Presto, go work for Nintendo's 2nd party virgin game development core in the states here, NST... do some concept designs for Samus Aran.. or better yet, some creepy crawlies in the vein of the original
bug-eyed/ shelled baddies from Metroids long past.
Pre-thanks :P |

sigh! You absolutely rock at this technical stuff. And, I really dig that you've made such colorfule tech design with markers. You did use markers right ?

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
Vortx, Frost - Yeah, I like how that car turned out too. I really like it when I can get most of my highlights with the white of the paper rather than having to go over in prisma or gouache, somehow it makes it look more solid. That one was done back in '95 when I was still working at Nissan and doing Presto at night!
Feng, don't know when I'm coming up next, but I'll give you a call when I do, it'd be cool to hang out..
shahar2k - Well, since this never came out, Bachalo has the drop on both of us!
Sergenth - Well it was done for our Gundam 0079 game, so...
Joachim - Thanks! Now if only my figures looked as good as yours...*sigh*... Yeah, these were all marker, with touches of Prisma pencil to cover up poor planning...
