Cool stuff Spit. Do you just do manipulation and web design or do you draw stuff too? There is a comic book artist named Ashley Wood who does some work you might like. He does cover art for some Spawn books. You can see them at http://www.spawn.com
Ok and.. I'm going to ask you the same question someone always ask you. How do you get that scratchy old paper look again? |

Nice images Spitfire, but personally (to me).. images like those are all played out.. seems everyone has there take on the freakish, death, gore dark or whatever kind of catagory you can put those pictures in.
Just not interesting after you seen the same thing (and they all do look the same to me) 20x times from everyone else ya know

Chapel,
In this case, it was scratchy old paper i used
Dukez; Eerrr... give me 20 links. I've been browsing the web for 4 years now and the only one i've seen use a remotely alike style is Chad Michael Ward. Just "dark" or "evil" doesnt mean its the same kind of works, y'know.

Silber, i know Ashley Wood's stuff. Its extremely moody and inspirational, but besides the texturing and sometimes rather evil look doesnt really have much to do with what im trying to conceive. His art is really illustrative while mine's much more abstract and more design-orientated as well.
Besides, he paints it, my work is mixed media digitally put together.
Gonad : Thanks. Im afraid there are no tutorials on this kind of thing, be it digital or painting. It's a matter of inspiration, seeing how certain things would fit together and make for a nice composition. You might want to check out the art of Chad Michael Ward, which is a bit in the same style but again much more illustrative : http://www.digitalapocalypse.com
Your best bet is just to look around at things and try to see how they would turn out in combination with other things. A (digital) camera and a scanner are a must as well.

silber: cool link.. never thought he had a domain.
spitfire: I just mentioned his work because I was wondering if you drew. Thought that if you didn't there might be some inspiration there for you to try. I kinda agree with Dukez, but you already knew that. You might not be able to find artwork like yours on the web, but if you go to student galleries you will see this kind of mixed media all over. But to each their own right? I just like happy happy stuff anyway. |

Chap, i really enjoy Wood's art, but its really character-orientated. I try to make things that dont have a real "focus" - just an overall image. If that makes any sense...
