Very nice stuff Veb! It's really quite cool to see how you paint all those Conan pics. I cant wait to see the final full rez pic.

Nice tutorial Veb.
One thing though: when you draw (in b&w), like the drawing you used for this painting, you work with a lot of contrast and real black shadows. But when you paint, all those dark shadows just vanish in middletones. I think that's not good. You overwork the lights (with too many shiny highlights) and you just lose the shadows. In my view your paintings are less powerful than your drawings, even if your painting technique is excellent. Fred Flick Stone could probably tell you more about lights and shadows, but I wanted to speak my mind.
Hope that helps in some way.

Great sketch...I agree with the above. The bw drawing is mean and severe. In rendered character all that is gone. |

Black_ish
You might be right, but I just started making very contrasted bw drawings, so wait until the tutorial is finished before starting the critism please. There will be more shadows and less highlights, but I do alot for adjustments from start to finish, most happen when I got all the paint in.
This tut is made as I go along to show how much it might eventually change during it`s course. Right now I think it looks like shit compared to the sketch, so prepare to see some serious changes to the next steps.
Final note, this image might end up very good orl ike a pile of dung, bu`t it`s to show some technical stuff, I`m not even sure I`m even going to add a background.

That really wasn't a critic Vebjorn, just a suggestion according to my tastes which are extremely personal
I really like what you do, and I'm interested in your style. I was just curious about the difference between drawing/painting.
I'll wait till it's finished. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |
