"Me", comments below image:

I was inspired by joachim's and micke's self-portraits (both awesome!) to try one myself. I never really liked doing it because its so hard to get it to look like me, but the last time i did one was years ago, so this is my latest attempt. I'm a lot happier with this one than any self-portraits i've done before. I like how the ears and the hair turned out. Feedback welcome!

That's really neat! The light that comes from behind looks really cool, the texture on the hair's nice!also love the blue reflection in the eyes. The only crit i have is that the neck looks too cylindrical(maybe it's just me)
Nice to see you posting again.

Hey, another nice portrait. That light makes you seem "angelic", but that could be how you see yourself

man you've improved lately! The shading technique, highligting, shapes and everything has improved so much since your 1999 images anc further back.
Great portrait, great colors and shading. Nice lighting and not overdtailed coloring and shadows like mine ..I think I gotta do a new one

Wow, that's really nice. Good color, good detail, good everything! Though you look like you need more sleep. And more sunlight.

The only thing that looks a bit strange to me is the shadow your hair is casting on your forehead... I think because of the color you used, it looks more like darker skin than shadow. But that's only after I've stared at it for about five minutes, so my eyes may just be playing tricks on me.

Very nice!

Wow, that's a great pic
I especially like the way you recreated the short shaved hair on the side of you head. Very convincing!
Facial hair looks cool too. heheh
The whole pic is very slick

Damn nice pic, Dhabih... I especially like how you colored the ear where the light comes through a little. Very realistic. The eyes, too. Great work...

Well, thanks for the feedback,

micke : you were right, i changed the neck to be less cylindrical.

Sedone: what do you mean? i AM an angel. :P hehe

waylon: You might be right...although there was a soft shadow under the hair, the way i drew it came out a bit blurry, so its hard to see what going on

anyway, appreciate the comments and feedback...i hope not to do a self portrait again for a long time they are HARD!

Hey that's nice. The hair looks great... When you're doing designs and concepts for Valve, do they look like this or do you tighten them up more, like the Arbiter pic? Just curious as to what game companies look for in concept art and designs...

Oh, and is it just me, or does the face look a little skewed? Like the chin is in the wrong spot?

Awesome pic as usual. Your style is getting even better. It's a totally different technique but it still has that soft feel to it like your other pics. Awesome. Awesome.

Tinusch: at work, the concepts are rarely "finished" looking....since ideas are refined and changed, its better not to spend too much time on each idea...also since i gotta churn out a lot, i dont want to spend a few days on one thing

also about the chin....uhm...thats actually how it is, i have an underbite....i got braces last year and will get surgery the end of this year because i have TMJ (slipped disc between upper and lower jaw)....so if i do a self portrait next year, it will look a bit different and the chin wont look skewed. heehehe

don't wanna make a bad comment here, not without a photo better than the one on your front page, but it seems the nose is a bit too big... I do quite a few self portraits (happen to have a mirror for a closet door in this house, so it's easy drawing while looking) they are mostly quick, but I alway exagerate the length of my face, you'll probably end up exagerating something in your face as well, but then again, it's art not photography
