I need something for the background, but I want something origional. (do it yourself foo! you might be saying) That's what this place is for! To learn, and get different perspectives.
Please help, and give me some background ideas. Thanks

Whoa, cool!
I like the sharpness in you image a lot, the sand/dust is very nice too
Is he riding a horse or soemthing because his lower hand looks like he's holding the reins of a horse or camel or whatever?
I can't think of anything for the background though. Because it's so centred on the character, the background seems like less of an issue.

Dude that's nice!!!!!
I don't think you need a special background - just some interesting shapes - like dunes. If you make the bg too crazy it'll distract from the cool foreground!!
I really like the way you did his clothing!
Keep on rocking ! |

I agree with the comments that the image doesn't need a complicated background; i like the desolate and determined feel to the character. but i think expanding from your current tight crop would greatly improve the composition - he's looking off to the distance on the right, what's there? and expanding vertically would give a great sense of "emptyness" to the desert..
i did a quick rescale to show what i mean (hope you don't mind?)
that's my idea, anyways. please post it when you've decided what to do!
(edit: typo fix)

This is a really great piece! I like the fact that you didn't add anything distracting to the backdrop also....it actually seems to compliment the mood of the piece. extralobe has a very valid point too....that little extra length added a remoteness to it! Anyhow some dim dunes would create a bit of intrest and give the viewer a bit more to wonder about.

Pyramids or something Egyptian like would look cool. Big dunes and stuff. Think StarGate. |
