drawing straight lines takes a while.

patience - don't give up, you'll get there pretty soon!

Hey Zaph0d

When I asked this question (or one closely related) a while ago I got some good responses.
This should be the right link http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum2/HTML/003091.html

What I found from my understanding of it was that one has to stop thinking in terms of pencil and paper. they may look the same but there are a few diferences that change everything around.

Loki- show me straight line done with wacom (without shift or the line tool ) I still can't do it.

well dunno if ull use my trick but the main problem with me using my tablet to get straight lines is the surface doesnt have enough friction.. so u could always throw a sheet of paper over the surface n it may help you... i dont actually do this cuz if i need strait lines bad enough ill just use the line tool / pen tool

I use a clear cell over my tablet. Its just taped to the top it is much smoother and saves both the nib of the wacom pen and tablet.

You can get these over here in NZ for about 40c a sheet. Not sure about anywhere else. Any art store or news agent should have them

Hope this helps.

As for grip.. What ever is comfortable.

Zaph0d:

Sup man. I know what you're talking about. I've had my tablet for a year or two and I still don't like how it compares to a pencil. But, it's by far the best way to do art on a computer, so I stick with it. I think my problem is that I'm used to drawing relatively small on paper with a pencil, and with my wacom I have to use larger hand motions to cover the canvas (I should have gotten a smaller tablet), which feels unnatural.

But, stick with it. Just watch the screen while you draw so you get a feel for what your hand is doing in relation to the cursor on the screen. After a while, you'll find yourself wanting to "ctrl-z" your drawings on paper when you make a mistake, and getting ticked off for having to use a real eraser

Your tablet is your friend. But you just gotta tame it, first Then its the coolest tool you can have. Keep at it.

I have got this crappy acecat acecadII which I have had for 6 years I just got my wacom a few months ago. Its not operational yet. Soon... Maybe this week when I get paid.

Its got an american adapter and they are a lower voltage than nz

Looking forward to it

So basically I am used to using one... and not the mouse.
