Well I'm another one of those newbies who has never even drawn on the computer before (besides MS Paint of course), and has less artistic talent than dabih or splooge have in their left bigtoenails. Crits, comments, whatever.. I want it all, cause i respect the opinions of everyone on this board from what I've seen in the last few weeks.
BTW, I had a reference pic, and i have NO idea how long this took, probably just a couple hours.. background (blue stuff) is a mixture of stuff I made in Photoshop, and some flower pictures i had. thanks in advance

It looks good, but the thing is, butterflies are a simple subject. Not much detail and not much shading. But still, it looks really nice. I'd love to see you tackle more complex subjects, though. |

I like, very cool. (monarchs are tough to do I've found; they're so matt black with white dots, hard to tell what's what some times)
Painter is a really cool program attempting to simulate natural media; brushes, pens, oils, you name it. Very tablet savvy program. |

Hey hey, is this the "Post your photo ref monarch pics" thread? Yours looks good, but as said, butterflies might not be the most interesting subject since there's not too much depth into them. But tinusch said that already... just keep on painting.
Here's an oldie:

I know I have too much time on my hands. I am sitting at work.. Works done. Learning how to make glassy images and constantly clicking refresh on this forum. I would like a butterfly wing sandwhich. Hold the onions.
Mmm.. Anyway.. -wanders off and finnishes her drawing for BurnOut-
