Hey guys - there it is! Many problems, but I like the mood though.
Anyway - this one started as a sooper-rough smetch and then developed into this image. I took my time with it, since I didn't want to rush it. It went through several stages. The crack where the sun comes through, wasn't planned in the beginning, and if you look at the composition it's quite obvious - bad! No reference was used, I just made it up as I went along - that's obvious too - also bad! But I still like the mood of it. I also used various textures for the rock.
Perspective on the rock is bad too - it kinda seems to twist the rockwall.

That's probably one of my favorite Loki pics. Awesome job. It looks great. Even though you called it a "smetch".

That water and the rock wall are beautiful. I don't think that the clouds in the sky are nearly as good as the ground.
Fix those clouds and it will be perfect.
Well done |

Loki, I reeeeeaaaallly like it even though others will crit. It looks pro to me, and the mood it creates is awe inspiring. That's the important part of the picture, not the quality, but the emotions it extracts from people. Because its those emotions that help you improve.
WOnderful sense of scale...oooohh. i love it! |

Loki, that is stunning. I love your rocks, please, please show us how you do those when you have time.
I love paintings that make you think, some paintings are just pretty, which is ok, but your paintings are generally so much more.
A very enthusiastic two thumbs up!

Right on Loki. This is one of my favorites.
The light fog further down the image gives it such great depth. Brings us right into the rock gorge. Dark use of shadows, almost pure black on the rocks is something I really like also.
Great job.

Great painting Loki. This is my favorite of these series from you =) It feels very fantasy like, and the lighting really makes it feel alive.
I agree w/ you on the sun-crack thing. Right now, it could be miss read - the sun crack appears to be in front of the forground rock. It looks more like a huge rock being lit by light rather than a crack in the cliffs. Not sure how you can solve this, maybe re-shape the rocks a bit more, and add in some details that extend from the foreground rock and intersect it w/ the sun lit area, such as plants or something. Right now the perspective separation is unclear....
Very nice work nevertheless!

Thanks doods - I love this forum! Posting images here is the perfect test!
What I want to do next, is leaving the canyons and see how it looks up there. Anyone can imagine how it would look up there? What would we see? Anyone cares to do a quick sketch? I'll post all of them on my paqe with full credits and links if that's worth it. Just an idea ... |

This is my favorite one so far Loki. Very nice. Only problem I have with it is the lighting (or shading) on the cliffs at the left. Everything just looks carved out an unnatural. |

Wow, that pic draws you in. Absolutely love it.
Even though I can't do better myself, the black cracks all through the walls of the cliffs are a little bit too dark. I mean some of them wouldn't be so dark in real life, imo. Or maybe i don't know what i am talking about. It rocks. |

This image rocks. The rendering looks a little different than the others. Maybe a little softer? Better though. Killer image, Ton Loki. |

VERY impressive textures. On that break in the cliff at the right: on the part of the cliff blocking the highlighted part(the side closest to us), I'd bring it down left instead of downright. Going down right with it confuses the eye, and makes you almost think the light part is in front.

Hi there loki.
I remember asking on that last post of yours (before you disappeared for a while) that you would do some more Lodge stuff. Thankyou, this one of my favourites so far, a job really well done.

*WHACK!!!!*
you just witnessed the sound of my jaw hitting my desk. Ouch!
This is outstanding workmanship Loki! Definately your best image so far. A very striking image. It's great to see this type of visual as I'm currently working on a series (in my spare time) of images along similar lines (lots of rocky/sky outdoor stuff).
This one has almost a traditional feel to it.
It does look a tad blurry. Have you been doing some weird scaling?
Care to tell us how you've integrated the various rock textures? I know of one or two approaches that work fairly okay but I'd love to hear how you went about it.

Yeah, yeah, it's too bad, no sense of color, dimensions, really a crap. Are you pulling our legs or what? Now, isn't it really annoying hearing someone that makes this HOLY WACAMOLE picture to start trying seem pathetic ;p |
