Jorge: I just flat-shaded with a big brush, then switched to a 80-90% opacity 1-pixel brush and pushed and pulled at the edges. (ie pick up color on one side of boundary, scribble some, pick up other color, unscribble some). having two views (one zoomed in tight, one showing the whole image) helped to decide if it looked like fur yet.
