Hi everyone. I'm finally done this pic, I know the anatomy is kinda screwed in the hands area. My fault. Ur probably seen the process of this drawing in another thread, so I owe a lot to flex elf. So, please, tear this pic apart, and chew on the apocalyptic-ness. Any comments to improve will be very awesome. |

Yummy, meteors, can't get any better than that! I ought to point out that he has a backwards right hand on his left arm. Weird, but true. Overall neat concept-meteor hits in medieval times-what would post-apocolyptic medieval times be like? Hmm...

A meteor is never going to be darker than the sky around it, so I'd get rid of the black you're using to define it. Try darkening the sky overall and then only using light values to render the meteor.
Its a common mistake, right up there with 3D artists letting the shadow side of the moon be darker than the sky around it.

I like it. Has a nice loose watercolour look. Good active pose/composition, too. I agree with balistic, though, the meteor does need to be brighter, less sharply defined. |

Thanks keep em commin!
About your comment ballistic, the reason why I thought the meteorite should be darker than the sky was mainly because its full of smoke and burnt rock, which I would think would be close to black. So since its entering the atmosphere, I thought it should be blackened, and yet glowling insanly.
Of course, I understand about the moon, but that is a static object for example.
I'll experiment, and see what I can do.
And jenn...why do u hate meteorites? |

first of all: I SUCK AT FIGURE DRAWING!!!!!
this was 15 mins and was only done for the purpose of showing values and how the meteor would be. I tried to include all the other comments that were made ...
Forgive me for that crappy character - I'll be taking figure drawing classes over the next months ... hopefully that will help.

That's cool Loki, the thing is with my pic, the coulds reaaaaally blend in with the meteor if its white. I guess, i could change the color, so i mucked around with it a bit, but in the end I still liked, the freakisly big crazy-type-gonna-kill-everyone-type meteor.
I'll get a pic of the revised version up soon. thanks for the sketch, it's nice ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/biggrin.gif) |

no offence superbug, but loki's meteor looks more realistic and convincing, then again, you may be going for the "cartoonish" look, nothing wrong with that ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Yeah Lokis meteor defenilty looks more convincing, and his is totally realistic in the sense, but then again, if you look at my pic its not very realistic
I was thinking METEOR from final fantasy 7 when I was doing this, so someting totally insane, and works with magic. So that's the big lightning bolts and stuff.
As for spawn, I think spawn is very cool, I used to read a bit, but was never interested in the story. I thought some of todd macfarlenes art was amazing though. |

Aside from debating what color the meteor should be.
This painting has really come along nicely Superbug. It's fantasy, I get it. Could be a demon racing to work, late as usual.
The angle is really in tune with the action. Keep this stuff up. Looking forward to your next piece.

I can't believe no one said it...
SEPHIROTH!!! =>
c'mon, there's a commet.
(sure so Sephiroth has white hair, and he has a black trenchcoat instead of a red cape but still... that's the first thing I thought when I saw it. I KNOW YOU'RE TRYING TO HIDE IT! I'M ON TO YOU! =)
the commet does look a little odd though.
have you tried making the sky a bit darker and putting a white commet overtop? at least make that "smoke" more of a dark grey. make it more smokey. |
