WAAAAAAAAAASSSUP.... Here is a new drawing i started last night. Comments are under the image.
I finally felt like drawing some stuff at home and came up with this. Its inspired by the portraits rich people got in the middle ages and thats about all i can say about it, not really sure why i ended up drawing it. It originally started out as a sketch for something else, but i saw shapes in my old sketch so i took it this way instead. The exaggeration on the face was an experiment to see how cartoon proportions play out if you use real anotomy...its wierd.
Btw, i'm gonna come to the forums again everyday (almost) now and hopefully this'll last. I appreciate how well people have been acting and not turning these forums into a giant flame war. thanks!
OH YEAH....i'm now using Photoshop 5.5, no longer in the ice age of photoshop 3... its not as bad as i first thought..hehehhehe

Hey KooooL!! I like this I had to paint a rapper into a franz hals painting once.
The rat is very nice, and the design of the clothing is as well. Everything has a nice thickness and turn and a specific material and surface. |

Hey Dhab,
Great to have you back! I love your painting, it does remind me of those medieval portraits of fat rich people. The rats a little spooky looking too, I really like the shiny surface on his breastplate thing. Keep up the good work and keep comin' back.

You're using 5.0 now?! nooo! Shun the dark side, return to the light! (3.0)
Hehe, er, "cool pic."
The only complaint I have is that the cloth on his arms looks quite a bit less finished than the rest of the work. It seems like more work could be put in to making it look nicer, perhaps more satin like.

Love the piccy! The detail in the face is amazing with all the different shading making the face really believable (apart from the fact it is an enormous head). I really like the way you've managed to achieve the white 'chest' plate (have no idea how you have done that but it looks great). How the heck can you do them so fast if you only started that last night.
Love you work!

There's already a self portrait thread started, why start a new one!?
Oh, wait!
This is probably my favourite Dhabih image to date, I really love the surfaces, textures, design, and even the colors.
Critique? His left arm looks quite a lot longer than the right one and I'm not sure the silk material totally works for me (it does have a feeling of solidity to it though).
Is saw this and thought it was Vladamir Haarkonen (just finished reading the book, very impressed) although he doesn't look mean enough.
The dralion is really cute. (needed a word, made one up)

Nice pic Dhab! =) Tell me something, what is this 'triad'-type sybol in the forehead I've seen a few times on your people's foreheads? =) I like the glowy sense in the rendition of the character, indeed makes it rich. Good work. =) |

The ear looks like a lump of skin fused to the side of his head. I am going to assume that is what you intended. But if it is not, then you should try to give it more shape. |

Glad to see you've come home, Dhab. I think the crew here misses you >8)
Really cool pic you've done here. Definitely one of my favorites of yours, right up there with Jack (which still freaks me out when I look a it). You've got a thing for creepy dudes with even creepier pets, eh? I wonder what kind of creatures are roaming about your house. I get the feeling looking at this guy that no matter how out-of-shape he is, I'd best not mess with him, huh?
And... am I just imagining this, or are you totally rearranging your style, Dhab? You seem to have more of a painterly thing going on here, similar to what spooge & Loki & Fred (and others) seem to do. Whatever it is, it looks great, that's for damn sure.

Welcome Back Dhabih!
Besides the Rat thingy I love the Gold on the breastplate. Sort of a nice blend of the middle ages and the deep future. I can't wait to get my eyes on more. |

Nice to see some more work. It's already been said but it does look as though there's some influence from Dune.
I like the smoothness of the skin tones especially around the eyes and the crisp feel of the entire image.
What resolution do you work to to achieve detail within a piece of work?

Hi there Dhabih!
I found this forum after you had just kinda 'left', so this is the first posting of yours I've come across.
You sure know how to make an entry!
That pic is fantastic! I agree with the complements that it's one of your best and that must be a complement indeed! It does, however, remind me of one character in particular.
