I dig it.
You should try another one without using any sketch lines... ( I should talk I just posted a sketch =] ) just let the shapes and silhouettes dictate what your image is going to look like rather than rough sketch lines. The lines you have in the picture right now take a little away from your clouds and mountains in the background. Either that or try to define or clean up your lines a little more
Just my 2 cents

Here's my quickie re-sketch.
About 30 minutes

I regret the spawniness of the cloak... and I wasn't quite sure what that thing coming down in the sky was, so I made it into some wierd creature thingy.

Wow, that is really nice flex elf. I really dig your take on the pic. The thing in the background is a comet peircing into the earths armosphere, and the guy is looking on going "oh shit".
But your pic really put the pic into perspective. And the whole idea with the creature comming into orbit sounds pretty new to me.
thanks, I'll be workin on it.
anyone else care to reply |

yeah, I've been wondering the same question. How do you get realistic looking clouds? What tools/settings do you use?

Alright, here goes, as you all know this is originally Flex elf's version of my drawing. Really sweet concept, and exactly how I wished to picture it! Thanks flex elf.
So, I was thinkin it was a shame such a good concept be left at just a sketch, I decided to kinda redo and go over flex elf's pic. My version still aint done yet

Oh, and about clouds, I'm not sure how u other guys do it, but I thnk an airbrush on low pressure, is good enuf against a flat background. Just add higlihgts here and there, as well as shadows and voila! |

reminds me of the warcraft three trailer.
i like the clouds in the final revision (final?) The meterorite kinda looks out of perspective from the figure, unless you kind of wanted to have him viewing it from the side. Kick-Ass otherwise!
i want to see where that figure's gonna be on impact...on the ground?. in tiny pieces? |

The way I did the clouds was to go with a flat gray as the background and work my way slowly up and down with the tones using the airbrush tool back and forth to give the clouds a little more depth.. like I would make the shadowy underbelly of a cloud and then give it a body but I didn't spend a huge amount of time on them.. the clouds probably took maybe 5 or so minutes out of the process.. the hard part (always) is the character. The grass was the quickest.
I'm not entirely thrilled with how it turned out but it was still fun.. cool idea for a pic.
